I was wondering how long it would take for someone to make the flexy comment. :) He did fill the wood with polyurethane foam to make it stiffer. I wonder how much. I like the look of it a lot.

Wood is remarkably strong for it's weight when it's not subject to shear forces... I still don't think I'd trust a bamboo frame though.

hence the reason why a few snowboard manufacturers have gotten away from high-tech materials and are using bamboo for their freestyle boards. sorta cool!

Calfee's road bike takes 3yrs to make, i believe, with the majority of that being the search for the right bamboo to use. the owner of Rivercity in Portland let us look at his while we were there. quite impressive.
