hey, maybe its just me, but if someone came into america and tried to take us over, wouldnt you fight them to the death? the may think the are helping us, but we wouldnt care, we would want them too get the hell out right? the country(iraq) will go through a civil war as soon as we leave anyway. they all hate each other. the onlyway to keep em in line is to have one powerful man.

think back to your childhood. you and your sibling fought right? who put you back in line if you got outta line. for me it was my dad, one almighty man. fear will do wonders for those people.
I look at it more like this.

When I was a kid if there was this big bully and his bully friends that kept beating me and my friends up, I would want someone to come in and get the bully, cause I wasn't able to.

This is more in line with what your talking about.

An do I agree, that those damn people do need a dictator to keep them in line. Democracy doesn't work everywhere.

I think all people have the right to be free, but some societies just don't work that way. The slave mentality goes too deep there.

"those damn people"? not very Jesus like there "Jesus." Nice handle by the way, that takes guts with all the fundamentalists around these days.

Is anyone really suprised that peolpe do this to westerners? With a response like this it is obviously an effective tatic when facing a militarily superior enemy.

There is no way that I am endorsing these actions, but really, what do you expect a proud, but humiliated people to do? Say "thank you for saving me from my foolish traditions, please build the Wal-mart right over there next to my cousin's mosque." American symbols of overconsumption and market dominance are resisted on Vancouver Island fer crissakes, how would and Arab respond?

I don't think it's a surprise that they do this stuff to non-combabants. Because they are cowards. If I wanted to kill an enemy, I would go after the enemy, not his innocent family or neighbors.

Iraqi's are proud and humiliated?

The was Saddam treated them is much, much worse than we have. Yeah me might get them to play a little gay porno picture time, but at least they ain't dead.

NOt many American prisoners in POW camps is there?

Nope, cause istead of gay play time, they kill us. It ain't right, but I would rather be labeled gay than DEAD!

I don't think that it's 'cause they're cowards, I think that It's 'cause they've found terrorism to be effective. I wouldn't really call a suicide bomber a coward. The point that I am trying to make is that if you feel that you are being oppressed, you are goind to use any means available to fight if you have been properly motivated to do so.

Jesus: "...but I would rather be labeled gay than DEAD!"

I think that this statement may reflect the underlying reason why the "war" on terrorism may not ever be successful. We don't understand our enemy, nor do we empatize with him very well. I found the movie "Fog of War", about Robert MacNamara ( I believe that's how you spell his name) very helpful in understanding conflict, and some of the associated mistakes. One of the first leasons that he outlines is that it is necissary to empathize with them enemy. They may be the enemy, but they are human after all. It only makes sense that understanding the motivations of your enemy, instead of treating them like unwashed murderous masses, is key to waging (sp.?) an effective campaign.

When I refer to a proud and humiliated people I am refering to the Islamic world in general. As a broad generalization, based upon my limited understanding, I think that the beliefs of Islam place a high value on honor and reputation. The cultural influence of the Western world has had upon these countries has been met with a great deal of resentment, as many of the ideals of the western world are offensive to an Islamic person (I think, corrections are welcome!) Thus, it is humiliating to have a culture that is offensive to everything that you believe taking over in your homeland.

I also think that appearing to be gay to your cummunity is a source of great shame to an Iraqi. You may prefer it to death, but I don't believe that many of the victims would agree. Once again, empathy and understanding are necissary.

I'm counting the days until the US "liberates" Saudi Arabia to take care of that Al-Queda problem there. I sure whomever is in charge has some murderous-looking baby-food factories that poor Powell would put into cartoon form and present to the U.N. Scrap it, if you liseten to W. talk these days there was merely a number of "contacts" between Iraq and Al-Queda. Apparently not responding to overtures from a lunatick is enough to get you country "liberated." I'm suprised ther's not a large contingent in Saudi RIGHT NOW!

Oh wait, too much oil, that will never happen.

I think that this has developed into their newest and sickest way to kill. They are planning on doing it to another guy, and not a westerner, a Korean!
Their sick and twisted medieval ways have to be stopped NOW!

I dont know if it is Al-Queda threatening for the next one, but I dont care who it is, they are all the same and just as bad as I see it! :mumble:
