Well there is the pre-emptive aspect, but that also spelled out a specific crime. Trump is possibly liable for such a litany of violations that it may not be too hard to maneuver around that. It would be amusing to see him list all the illegal shit he has done. I am specifically referring to the argument that a president cannot pardon themselves because they cannot serve as their own judge.
