Hi, I'm Rick.

I'm an A.S.S. (Automation Support Specialist) in a federal position here in Phoenix.

I'm married- 15 years now, two kids, soon 11 and 8.

I turned 50 this year.

I have a degree in graphic design which I have never utilized.

Long ago I was a guitar tech and roadie for a fairly successful blues band and got to meet some legendary artists that we opened for.

I enjoy riding, music and producing very amateur photography.

Moved to Arizona from Illinois 23 years ago and love the desert, originally moved because I could ride a motorcycle 12 months out of year.

When I worked with Reactor, he got me into mountain biking about 4 years ago now and much to my wife's dismay the expense that goes with it (up to 4 bikes now- squishy bike, xc racer, ss, and roadbike).

Parked the motorcycle once I started mountain biking and never looked back. I guess 30 years of "pushing my luck" is enough and I get the same thrill from pedaling. The two bikes (motorized versions) still sit in the garage gathering dust.

Great thread, I have enjoyed reading through it.

I'm Dave. Soon to be 34. Many of my friends refer to me as scrubby, purely because we all know so many other guys named Dave, and I've grown used to answering to it.

Grew up in the Williamette Valley area of Oregon, spent some time in
Boston, now reside about an hour north of Denver.

I'm a Registered Nurse, who works in med/surg ICUs. No, my name is not Fokker. Yes, I've heard every possible thing anyone can say to poke fun at a male nurse, so forget it.

Ms. Scrub is an archivist/librarian, from the east coast. Where we will proably be moving back to in the next couple years. We have two cats, and absolutely no desire to replace them with anything other than more cats, and a dog, when they die.

Four bikes: burly hardtail, 6x6 burlier bike, fixie road bike, fixie crosser/dirt road explorer/commuter. I like to ride them all.

My coworkers were all very surprised when they found out that I actually do in fact have a car.

34 years old

Married 9.5 years (to the same person)

2 kids (5 y.o. daughter, 10 month old son)

Born in Brunswick, ME -> college in Castleton, VT -> lived in Boston for 6 years post-grad -> Now I live up the road from Treesaw.

Been biking on and off since '87. Started by doing triathlons in high school and got into MTBing in college. I race DH at the Sport level but enjoy anytime I get to spend on a bike, even road.

I spend my days sitting at a casino monitoring 1331 slot machines that are enrolled on my network. I honestly have little interest in IT, but I love my job.

I'm a "hippie" and music consumes most of my non-riding life. I spent several years following the Grateful Dead and Phish around the United States and if I were single and without child, I would undoubtedly still be "on tour" with somebody... ::cough::Umphrey's McGee::cough::

I consider many of you to be friends and can easily kill a day drinking good beer and discussing the epic rides yet to come...

*My name is Matt, 29

*I'm married, 2+ yrs now, to a beautiful woman (and she likes to ride).

*My favorite ride is my Norco Six, but I also have a HT and DH bike.

*I'm a System Analyst for a hospital network in WA, OR and AK

*I hate working for someone else, but haven't found the right opportunity for getting out on my own.

*I live ~3 hrs from Whistler and would move there if my wife was cool w/ it.

*Don't smoke, occassionally drink and my fantasy football team is mediocre (at best).

*I find riding trails I helped build the most rewarding aspect of biking. If you don't work on trails w/ your local club, get out and try it - you'll love it.

Jon...

I live in Oklahoma, am 29 years old, married (as of oct of last year).
I was born in Tulsa... grew up in Houston, TX. and was raised in a Venezuelan American family (Father is from Venezuela).

Swimming consumed most of life for a long time... I swam at the USS club and national level from the age of 8 and it put me through college. There I recieved multiple art degrees while taking short breaks to go on Phish tour.

I was employed in Tulsa by an ad agency and have been doing that professionally since before I graduated. After swimming was over I needed something else to keep my athletic side going... I had used road biking in the past as cross training (I always found it to be similar to the cardio workout that you get from swimming). I liked the earthy feel of mountain biking so I took it up and it became a borderline addiction.

I also play with numerous local jazz, funk, and latin jazz bands. I have been playing Afro cuban instruments for a very long time. I grew up around them and have been formally trained mainy on the Congas. That and riding consume most of my free time.

I got married just last year which has opened a new chapter in my life. Wife is going to school to be a horticulterist (sp), we live in Tulsa right near the largest suspended ceiling building in the US (world?).

Oh... and I have been using RM to waste time for years because the people here are better than any forum out there.

I'm Dave

I will be 33 in a few days.

I'm married with a 2+ year old daughter (who is my absolute sweetheart!) and have a sweet 4 year old Chesapeak Bay Retriever.

Most of my family (mother and fathers side) are/were teachers, and I tried everything I could to break the cycle by playing in a band and touring (trying to make it), I then "wised up" by working in and managing bike shops while going to school for teaching. I have been teaching Graphic communications and Woodshop for 7 years.

stable includes a Yeti 575, Redline MonoCog, and a neglected miyata pro road bike.

I like riding XC and freeride stuff. I love building challenging trails and stunts.
when the waves are good I make the trek down to the coast to surf (9+ hour ride)

I have too many hobies to list.

I have met a bunch of great people on the monkey, and this thread is one of the great ones!

Have worked as a personal trainer (Have degree in Exercise Science), bike wrench, bus driver (got fired!) fry cook and wood butcher (Carpenters apprentice) and a bunch of other junk that my therapist is helping me get over...
Bike are a Kona Unit (Most fun in ever!) a Jamis Dragon (Steel is real!) and a Trek 8000 (Currently for sale...). Have been a roadie, but got better.
XC and AC inspired pedaling is about it for me. I love to climb (On the bike) and then follow Partsbara down the hill. Also play a bit of hockey and lift a weight here and there.
Dig music, mostly classic rock (The Who. Nuff said.) some old school punk (The Clash.) and some hellbilly-ish whacked out un-categorizeable stuff (Horton Heat, Social D, Webb Wilder, Brian Setzer, Dropkick Murphys). Dad was a Opera signer, trained in Italy who sang proffesionally most of his life. I cant carry a tune in a bucket.

I have a Political Science degree, but my first job out of college was a craft brewer at CT's first brew pub. I did that for about 5 years.

Now I work for an architectural CAD software company. I'd still be making beer if it paid better.

I ride a SC Bullit - it's my second one. I made it into a Bull-ite by swapping the 5th E coil for an air shock and putting light components on it. I :cupidarrow: my bike.

"The Blues Brothers" is my favorite movie.

All of the monkeys I've ridden with have been very cool people. I haven't been able to ride much lately (for a variety of reasons) and that bothers me.

I’ll play…. I’m mark.

35years old, originally from Boston now living in SoCal.

I do not have an accent because my father’s mother was an English teacher and my mother is a speech therapist.

Our New England roots can be traced back to the Mayflower, and being one of the 15 families that founded Newport Rhode Island. One of those family members is known for repeatedly being thrown in jail for not going to church (yeah religious freedom in the new world!).

My wife said she knows that is my relative since I am an anthiest.

Married 4 years to a smoking hot 29yr old Cuban-American. Wife is a TV news reporter. She lives in Texas, which sucks – but we are dedicated to each other and get to see each other once a month. I’ve posted several threads about her in the past, but stopped since the juvenile attitude of some of the asshats around here got tiresome.

No kids and the cat is in Texas. My roommate has a dog and a cat, so I have surrogate pets.

I have a niece who thinks it is funny that her Uncles’ face is furry like her dog’s.

I have a Nephew/godson that is adopted. He is ½ African American and ½ Philippino. At 3 weeks old he was picking up his head and looking around, at 2 years old he was as tall as the kitchen table… he is gonna be HUGE.

Was pointed to the monkey when I moved from Boston where I was on BustedSpoke all the time. I’m not sure if I laugh more in the lounge or in the DH forum watching people debate wheelpaths or how much better one single pivot bike is than another single pivot, etc.

I have 3 working bikes. One ‘all mountain’ hardtail and one DH/FR hardtail… I get a lot of funny looks for the second one. I ain’t the fastest… but I’m having fun.

My other ride is my fixed gear which I’ve had for about 7 years. That one doesn’t get as much attention anymore b/c the ratio is set for city riding, not the hills where I live.

I am a mechanical engineer who designs implants and instruments for spine surgery. I teach sales reps and surgeons how to use our product, this is done on cadavers which I am responsible for arranging. So I not only see dead people, but I arrange for others to do so.

My wife and I have both lived in 5 different states, but only 3 together. The cat has lived in 3 different states.

Other thank biking I have done a lot of sailing and fishing (mostly back in New England), and a little rock climbing.

I’ve traveled to Europe, Australia and Latin America. I want to hit India, New Zealand, Ireland (mother side of the family is ‘off the boat’) and Greece before I’m 40.

I’ve met some very cool people and a few great friends on the Monkey.

My real name is Evan, aged 33 years at the time of this writing, and I am a Hoosier by birth now living in Denver, Colorado. I pay my rent by making a solid attempt at freelance graphic, web, and user interface design, and for the most part I kick ass at it when I am motivated to actually create artwork for my clients.

I started my mountain biking life on a rigid Trek 7000 circa 1991, and now own a plethora of rides that include a Yeti 303DH, Yeti 4X, Torelli Countache roadie bike, and a mid-50's era Schwinn Spitfire. When I'm not riding a pedally bike, I enjoy casing 60' doubles on a 2005 Yamaha YZ250F that currently needs a bath, an oil change, and it's air filter cleaned. Sometime in the next couple of months I plan on replacing my recently sold Yeti 575 with (gasp!) a newer, faster, more turquoisey Yeti 575.

I race DH, slalom and 4X for the Yeti/RPM Developmental Program and sit on the Board of Directors of the Mountain States Cup as the Creative Director and as a rider liason. I love mountain bike racing and am doing my part (however small it might be) to ensure it's continued existence in this country. Or... at least my state! Although the financial rewards are meager from these prestigious postions, I haven't paid for a t-shirt in years so it must be worth it.

Beyond two-wheeled adventures I have been known to skateboard and snowboard, and am planning on learning to surf this winter when I visit Mexico with my family. Not that they are from there, just that I will be vacationing with them. I have also played the guitar for 20 years, and written albums worth of original material, some of which has been recorded and lost and none of which has been released to the general public... yet.

I also just eated a sandwich. It was tasty.

I went to Gonzaga my freshman year, and grew up just a few blocks away from Western. Both great schools.

I'm Andrew.
I grew up in Bellingham, moved to Spokane for a year, and I am currently living in Seattle, but always in Washington.
I'm 21, majoring in Theology and minoring in History at Seattle Pacific University. I'm planning to get my Ph.D. in something like Eurasian religious history, hopefully at the University of Glasgow, or some other European school. I hate U.S. History.
For work I drive an Isuzu box truck for Zeeks Pizza, delivering dough in the morning, and then deliver pizzas at night. What can I say? It's the perfect part-time college job. Before I started that, I was employed as a Volunteer Coordinator for a local non-profit, and have also worked in a print shop, construction, and other odd jobs.
I've been riding since I was 12. I ride a Rocky Mountain RM-7 fr, doing mostly DH and FR for the past few years. I like XC, but my XC bike is currently out of condition. I just got my first set of upper body armor last week, thanks to Sr8outaBallard. I know a few other monkeys, jbuttri, DWaugh, iridebikes, TtotheJ, and various other local monkeys. Whether he knows it or not, Skookum introduced me to RM.
Finally, I use a mac, drive a Subaru legacy, and live in a pad with 3 guys and a girl, with Abe Lincoln staring creepily through the window at all times. I'm 5'10", with brown eyes and brown hair. I like good beer, climbing, and long walks on the beach.

Name is Donnie, I have one kid and have been married for 6 years. I'm one slice of chesse from being totally vegan. I'm a treehugger and care more about animals than people.

I have a degree in Hotel Restuarant management and was a chef for 10 years until I became a vegetarian. I'm 35yo and I have had too many injuries from biking to count. I started out BMX riding way back in the day competing against the likes of Carter and Lopes.

I competed once in the X-games back in the mid 90's but didn't make it out of the semi-finals. I hate America and have sinced moved to Canada :D If I'm not riding my bikes I'm racing my car. I grew up in S. Central LA and had a rough childhood. I have lost too many family members and friends in my short time on earth.

I'm an agnostic and I collect comic books for fun....D

Hi, Im Graig. I come here every day to read because you guys crack me up. I only have a post count because I have sold a few things and given some pictures I took at Snowshoe a couple years ago.

I have gone through some nice expensive XC bikes but I always sell them and return to my 99' Trek 6000 turned to SS with a RS Judy "long travel", back when 3" was a lot. And I own a 24 cycles LeDude DH bike that I havnt touched in 2 years.

Im 25, married, no kids, Design Engineer for an Exhibit company.

Maybe this will be the end to my lurking days. Maybe Ill go back to reading and chuckling at my desk to get me through the slow days at work.

Its page 9 anyway, no one will read this.

I am matt.

I got an ME degree from the university of NH.

I lived in NH for all of my life except for the past 6 months, where i spent 14 weeks in Egypt, and the other time in Wyoming.

I work as a field engineer in the oil & gas industry and love every minute of it. I now live in Wyoming, its windy here.

I have 4 complete bikes and am in the process of building up a fifth. a bmx bike, a trail bike, an urban bike, a road bike, and soon to be an xc race bike (which ill probably never race).

Besides biking, i like hiking, camping, would like to rock climb and get into photography more.

I spend most of my time on bustedspoke's forum.
