Does the G1 jump better then a Canfield Formula 1 Jedi (2010)? I am thinking of replacing the Jedi with a G1 but I don't want another bike that can't jump. Thanks.
jedis can jump-real well in fact, this is a jedi hitting the windham WC jump for the first time, at its original 60 foot distance

That said, a zerode is no slouch on the jumps either, only difference is weight really. Ive owned jedis and zerodes, cant go wrong with either

Okay had some ride time aboard the G2. So below are the noticeable differences I found. The trails here are 90% rock as my pictures usually show.
1. The bike is more lively. Less sag and seems to move around easily on the trail similiar to the TR450 we tested awhile back.
2. The HA feels good fairly slack it corners well and keep traction in loose marbles pretty good.
3. Still east rocky terrain very well. Maybe not quite as good as last version but I am also running smaller tires and more air....
5. The BB being a tad lower feels more confidence inspiring and have had no hang up issues essentially the ground clearance is close to the same since the frame lost a bit off the shock shuttle.

How about the increase in top tube reach? Did you go for a Large or Med?
I have the LG I am 6' 2" with shoes I could have maybe gone MD since it was a 20mm increase over the last MD/LG variety. But the LG feels good. I raced a SM Titus SUPERMOTO back around 2003 so I am not super picky that thing was TINY!

Cool thanks. I'm really struggling with the size question. I was on a large demo before the M/L zerode, so this feels a bit cramped. However, I'm 6' even, so I'm right on the border, and it seems like quite a big difference. I'm leaning towards the L, and if it's too long running a short stem.

G'day all.

I have just become the proud owner of a Zerode G1. I'm still waiting on a X9 shifter and a shock to finish it off before hitting the trails properly, but I'm loving it already.

In the meantime I've encountered a bit of a problem when it comes to shifting through the gears. I can shift through to 4th ok but when I try to change up to 5th it stays in 4th. When I shift up again, to what should be 6th, it then changes (to 5th or 6th I don't know). This repeats for the shift to 7th and 8th gear.

I have turned the adjuster barrel on the shifter so that the dots line up in 4th gear. Has anyone else experienced this and/or has anyone got a possible solution to get it shifting correctly?

Thanks.

I've never heard of it before, although I am having similar issues with a used 11 speed I bought. Mine just jumps in some gears. I'm going to open it and flush it out. I'm guessing there's some rubbish in there. Or, some muppet has worn out the gears by ridding it un-adjusted correctly for a very long time. Is the shifter ring(part that moves when you shift)moving freely? Is the cable around it without kinks or anything else strange? So you're clicking the shifter up three clicks from the easiest gear then adjusting the yellow dots with the barrel adjuster? Is the barrel adjuster over wound? I'd wait and check if the new shifter solves it, incase the problem is the ratcheting/indexing system in your current shifter. This would be my guess without more info(how many clicks do you get, and how do they feel etc).

Went and took some pics of local Vance riding the G2 for his first time. He was pretty stoked on it I got a few OK images nothing to great. Have no idea what the colors look like at home on a laptop anyone notices red or orange tint in images let me know....

I've got my X9 shifter converted and ready to go on. Gonna go buy a new shift cable from the LBS after work. Just a standard shift cable right? Do I need to take the Alfine out of the frame to remove and replace the shift cable? I was just looking at it and it doesn't look like I'll be able to get in there with it in the frame.

edit: I got it figured out. For anyone else who comes here looking for this info, it's pretty easy. You take the plate off that is used for the vertical tension adjustment of the gear box, the one held in by the 3 chainring bolts.

edit 2: ignore the first edit and read the description from no skid marks below. I always find the hard way to do something. The support for the zerode on this forum is amazing, really appreciate it.

you can change the cable without remove the alfine be sure that the new shifter is in the right gear and the alfine color marke is in line like the manual says.. go to the left side of the bike take with right hand the end of the cable " behind the correct messured screw" the screw looks away from you "to the drive side", than hook in like "from back up to front down forward". with the left hand bound forward the cable.

Yes no need to remove anything but the cable. The outer cable pulls out where it ends. Simply click into highest gear. Hold the part of the Alfine that moves when shifting, and click shifter to the easiest gear. You'll then have enough cable slack to pull the outer cable out of it's end mounting bracket. Once this is done, you can then release the inner cables end piece from it's quick release slot.
Pull on inner cable, and measure how long the end clamp on it is from end of outer cable for future reference of how long you'll need it. Then remove end clamp, and install new cable(and shifter).
For anyone else coming here to learn this. I recommend just buying a complete modified Sram shifter from a Zerode distributor. They come with new cable(inner and outer)attached with new Alfine cable ends.
Make sure barrel adjuster is wound in when you install new cable.
Tune gears, as always, by clicking to easiest gear, then clicking the higher gear button(big one)3 times, putting you in fourth gear, then use barrel adjuster to line up the two yellow dots on the Alfine. So simple once you've done it once and understand it all. If you run out of barrel adjustment before yellow dots line up in fourth, you need to wind barrel adjuster back in, and move cable end attachment further along inner cable, and tune again. Check yellow dots again after a ride to check for any cable bedding in. Then you shouldn't need to check it for quite a while.
Feel free to PM me, or ask any questions on here. It's very easy, just sounds confusing.
I can take photos if needed.

didn't quite got as smoothly as you guys said but I think it will be easier the next time around after having seen how it works now.

It's all back together. It's not quite shifting as smoothly as it was previously though. Without any load, just pedaling around it shifts pretty well. If I try and shift while sprinting I get some delay and clicking between the shift, kind of like a derailleur that was a little out of adjustment. The green dots line up perfectly and as best as I can tell the Alfine is level in the frame. Anything else I should check?

I did use an older SRAM X9, it says "Impulse Technology" on the top. Any problems with that? The gear went in there no problem.

I also managed to lose the nut for the cable stopper. This says 11 speed but looks identical, any difference or will this work as a replacement?

You need to line up the white lines on the hub. There is a window on the top of the hub and on the bottom.

Read your manual or look it up on the Zerode website.

Yup, got that. As I mentioned in that post that you quoted:

"The green dots line up perfectly and as best as I can tell the Alfine is level in the frame. Anything else I should check?"

It's definitely not that.

The cables(inner and outer) are all in their correct positions?
Alfine nuts should be same each side in relation to marks on mounting plates.
Check yellow dots often, incase cables stretch/bed in since you installed them. You might not have had end caps all the way on or something similar.

Zelvy was going to make a Alfine guard and a thicker shock guard, but I haven't seen one yet... that was almost a 10 months ago.

good to see all the zerode love on here,
Heres my new (ish) black beauty,

I have read all the thread and some great tips are in there for sure!

Has anyone got a reccommended setup for a fox RC4 on the G2?
or can you post yours if possible?
just the compression im not sure what it likes to run,
I have only put 1 turn bottom out also.
(not sure if anyone has 888evo ti forks but if they have a setup with a rc4 that would be amazing!)

cheers in advance

Flo

Supposedly Bennet has not touched his from FOX settings! I would suggest adding a few clicks of HSC just to add a touch of progression to it maybe. Here is the G2 with the new 40.

Are you implying that out of the box the fork and shock are set to "factory recommended settings"? I always assumed the clickers were in random positions.

Or am I miss-understanding you and you're saying he got suggestions from Fox, set his suspension to them, and had left it there?

He didn't touch the compression on it at all. May have just felt right or he doesn't really care. I had Mikey Haderer asking him for a customer of ours and said he threw the right spring on and went. Pretty funny I rode the RC4 a bit on that Blue bike I just made rebound faster and didn't touch the compression side but I only rode it for about 2-3 weeks before the CCDB Air showed up. It felt decent to me as is but I know he is 2x's faster than me so.....

Hi zerode owners,
Does anyone have tips to fix tensioners?
I have ruined 2 springs now and drivetrain has not been quiet at all after only a week in whistler ( smashing a lot of runs mind you) the zerode is amazing to ride here but that little tensioner lets it Down ... ( the obvious thing is to buy more but I'm looking long term solutions as I'm not going to sell the bike! ) the chain is correct length for your info,
Any help appreciated

Is your chainline straight? Tensioner springs usually last a year of heavy abuse. A mate did three months at Whistler riding 6-7hours a day without changing his.
In a fix to get it going, you could just zip tie a rubber band or any elastic to the chain stay, wrap one end around tensioner and tie a big not in the end so it won't pull through under zip tie. Just use how ever much elastic to pull it tight enough. You could try any similar single speed tensioner if getting a Zerode one would take too long. Zerode ones are dirt cheap though. Buy two or three if you're concerned. Got a pic of the tensioner and chain to show chain length? Doubt that's an issue if you checked it with shock bottomed without spring.

If the rear sprocket has been changed the chain needs to be shortened or lengthened accordingly.

Are you putting the tensioner into the frame hole or all the way down to bottom of the stay? ( I have had a few where I had to go under the stay for it to be taught enough)

What is you rear sprocket spacing looking like?

Thanks for the replys,
The sprocket is standard,
And yes it was under the stay,
Rear spacing has a 2mm spacer next to the spokes and its bang on I think,
Cheers

Finally got high end cranks on the race build bike. The Zee's went on the grey one above. The Atlas cranks are stiff and light all good so far!
