Terrorists must be stopped

In answer to Susan Waters' "I Miss Saddam" (Forum, Aug. 8), Saddam was not a stabilizing force. He caused the Kuwait war. He caused the present war - by not cooperating with the United Nations inspectors.
Remember, the Senate, both Democrats and Republicans, backed this war on the information they had. Also, Saddam was paying $25,000 to Palestinian families who provided suicide bombers for the killing of Israelis.
We were right to depose Saddam. If Great Britain (and the rest of Europe) had acted to stop Hitler at an early stage in his rise to power, Londoners would not have suffered the 2,000 V-1 buzz-bombs during the summer of 1944 that indiscriminately killed 6,000 innocent men, women and children and wounded 40,000.
Saddam influenced Iran, and Iran-backed Hezbollah has now indiscriminately bombed Israel. Where will it spread from here? Look at pictures of London after the buzz-bombs and Hiroshima after our nuclear bomb. Today, one suitcase nuclear bomb can destroy a city like Jerusalem, New York or Salt Lake.
No, I don't miss Saddam. I wouldn't miss bin Laden, Hezbollah's Nasrallah, Syria's Basher Assd, Iran's Ahmadinejad, or Iran's real power, the terrorist ayatollah theocracy.
We have the power to slow Iran and the Iran-backed Hezbollah. We must convince other countries that this has to be done now. If not, we along with Israel need to act. There will be greater unrest and far more death if these terrorists are not stopped.
