I heard this guy on NPR in my car this morning - I especially like his background which gives considerable credibility to his statements about this stupid mess in Iraq and the fools who initiated it:

May 28, 2004 -- Retired Gen. Anthony Zinni says Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and his top aides should be held responsible for failing to plan for Iraq's reconstruction after the U.S.-led war.

"It was their job to ensure that the strategy they gave to the president of the United States was correct," Zinni, the former Marine Corps general who headed the U.S. Central Command before his retirement in 2000, tells NPR's Steve Inskeep. "I believe it was flawed. They were responsible for planning and organizing what we needed on the ground to rebuild this country. We have lost a year."

Zinni says U.S. troops were "led to believe they would be greeted with flowers in the street and hailed as liberators -- they weren't. They were led to believe that the world was behind them and that this was the right cause. And they can see where they're not treated as liberators. They're treated as occupiers, as crusaders..."

He says the U.S. military was provided with unrealistic objectives in Iraq. "We were in there talking about Jeffersonian democracy, free market economies, changing the face of the Middle East with this one blow. That was ridiculous, and I think now what we have is young kids paying the price..."

Zinni is the author -- along with Tom Clancy -- of Battle Ready, a new book about the former general's life and career.

. . . and a nice link for the "liberals" who appreciate stuff like this . . . and, yeah, of course I'm being sarcastic about being a liberal because I truly believe anyone who supports Dubya and his fellow idiots regarding the Iraq conflict redefine what should be considered "EXTREMELY LIBERAL" - being called "x" (liberal, communist, anti-American, terrorist sympathetic, et cetera) by my "conservative" comrades solely because of my anti-government stance with Iraq is simply taken as a compliment, regardless of the intentional meaning of "x" hurled by my reality challenged peers

Gen. Zinni is known around the Marine Corps as being a total class individual, what they call "a Marine's Marine". He has credibility for sure: That, i do not question. BUT after retiring from such a position, I can think of one ONE sure fire way to get RICH from selling books.

seems to make sense given the military's policy of 2 year waiting period for certain contractor positions for which he's certainly qualified. Maybe he's banking Lockheed Martin or Northrop Grumman will have forgiven him by the time this soon-to-be-bestseller has been mothballed?

Yeah, the biggest sellout whores have to be Rush Limbaugh (sp?), Shawn Hannity & the likes.

It's amazing how much isn't really being said during one of their "shows". I think Rush's plan is simple: let's get fat, smoke cigars and take two hours to say 2 minutes worth of whatever they want to hear - BUT PAY ME!

After all, that's the American way.

What's the deal with people who listen to Rush Limbaugh taking everyone's friggin inventory, when the guy is a junkie fraud. Anyone who know's anything about OxyContin knows that it's the bee's knee's for pill poppin junkies, it's like believing a heroine addict all these years. People are retarded.
