I was riding down in Mammoth last week and got my bike blown out from under me over a jump on a new trail called chainsmoke. If you've been to mammoth you understand the wind situation. I'm an idiot for even continuing to hit them after mid day. Anyway I came down on my ankle from probably about head high and look at all the neat colors it's turning. Oooh purty. Two broken foot bones (with tendons attached to the free floating pieces) and a mean sprain are the result.
Notice the wierd crap that seems to be chasing up the blood vessels in the shot from the top.
If you go to mammoth, please roll the first few jumps on chainsmoke before you jump them. They are built poorly with the last jump being about 20% the size of the previous 3, all of which you will accelerate from if you hit the landings properly. I got knocked because of the wind but the last jump is dangerous regardless.
