Yeah, like DSD runt where the valves are both on top. With big temp changes, the mezzer sucks down because there is no equalization port, which requires hooking up a pump to the bottom and pulling it apart, which is way more of a hassle than any right side up fork for hooking up on the bottom, let alone the suck down issue.

Yeah, I get it, they have decent damping, but then they just do this bizarre stuff that basically guarantees they wont get any more mainstream. Manitouisms is what I call em. Back in the day they refused to use metal top caps for their preload like marz was and of course those plastic top caps would jam together after a few hard impacts.

IMO, they always get so close to actually good stuff, and then just go to la la land for a few important bits.
Meh, works fine for me, but I came from a Z1 so a Mag 21 probably would have been an improvement.

I was thinking of upgrading my Selva S air spring to the Selva R type but I might just wait for the new Mezzer and get one of them.
But if they swap to a balance port like the rear shock and Suntour I'll go something else, maybe coil.

Sounds like X-fusion is still running a pretty crude coil neg spring going off the top out reports on the 38mm Vengeance, so that's a no go.

I have a brand new 2024 X2 sitting on the shelf that I'm considering getting done to replace a TTX2 Air for the other bike.
Mines a bomber CR, but it was encouraging that FF uses their own pistons and replaces the Bellville washer, makes it seem like they know what the F they are doing.

I hope Dangerboy start making levers again.
At least they made them in a time when stock levers were usually shit.

I get it for TRPs, they feel like a brake from 20 years ago but most others seem tolerable.

It’s a long read but I really appreciated this write up on the actual impact of the Buffalo bike, and bikes in general.

When the buffalo bike was shown at trade shows last summer it got a lot of buzz as the most important bike there, due to what it means to the communities it will serve. I certainly got swept up in their narrative.

The reality is that the bike is still too expensive, the org that distributes the bikes is negatively disrupting the existing infrastructure and the whole narrative that bicycles will unite communities is designed specifically to appease wealthy western cyclists; and a second hand motorbike is way more useful than another cheap heavy bike with propriety parts…at least that’s what I took from it.

People calling out the industry is what’s right with the industry.

https://bikepacking.com/plog/bikepacking-on-the-buffalo-bicycle/ - also worth reading the introductory piece that is much more positive. It’s not all bad out there

What's right is a chain company FINALLY offering new chains that are waxed instead of saturated in grease. KMC is now offering some of their 11 & 12spd chains waxed, and selling a drip wax lube for use on them. I predicted that Shimano or Sram would do it in 2025 and this move by KMC might push them to make it happen.

Lol
Despite KMC making their chains. and KMC's own chains having quick links Shimano took over 20 years to adopt this "new'" technology.

Ps. Drip on wax is fucking gash in wet climates.

With my hub failures I was sorta stuck for a cassette, I asked mom if she was ever going to ride her bike.
She said no so I stole her Sunrace 11-51t 12speed cassette, it cost 120 Aussie dollars and is great.

I will say that I used a KMC chain on my XT cassette, but the Sunrace shifts better with the same model chain. So far I haven't bent a ring like I did on the Shimano and the aluminum rings don't seem to gouge like the Shimano ones.

Yes I should have used a Shimano chain on the XT cass buuuut I hate Shimano. Only had their cassette because it was the only 10 or 11 -46t 12sp I could find.

Not quite the bike industry but it's impressive to see Exped list their manufacturers-
