I thought precession in a wheel was due to only one side of the axle being held/fixed.
No, it doesnt care, it functions as a gyroscope due to being a spinning disc. Thats all fine and dandy, but when we start talking about roll, thats definitely going to be felt in 90 degrees in the direction of rotation. Im not sure his ideas make sense here, since it’s going to result in some of the things he said he doesn’t want.

We already had affordable durable shimano 8, 9 & 10spd road groupsets.
Linkglide's claim of thicker sprockets and more durabable cassettes are simply not true as all linkglide components run with an 11spd chain limiting sprocket teeth to 1.6mm the same thickness as 10spd. (narrower than 9 and 8 respectively)
Where linkglide does manage to increase durability is only really relevant to the increased wear shifting over wider spaced cassettes brought. An issue road simply doesn't have.

Shimano 10spd and lower road levers were probably due a redesign anyway.
The need for small hands friendly road levers has been there for decades so good to see Shimano finally address the problem. Let's hope they don't fuck it up again as with Claris' original claims of female friendly levers (exactly the same size as Tiagra or any other STI lever clearly designed for men) .

There's absolutely no doubt Shimano needed to introduce a cheaper gravel groupset tho now folk are blindly riding flared bars everywhere it the belief they're doing something a Cyclocross bike wouldn't have taken in its stride.

do you have any infos on CUES RD-U8050?

is this only bosch ebike compatible or could i run this with a normal di2 battery?

stumbled on this when i looked at the new stuff on the distributor site

Every Shimano road component in 8, 9 and 10speed except for Tiagra 4700 is cross compatible. 4700 uses 11spd cable pull ratio (plus side is it can be used as a very cheap compatible replacement option to mix with a bike running 11spd 105 etc.) saved a few punters money in doing so.

Reckon your shop now owe me a bunch of CHF for staff training services. But a nice kebab would be acceptable.

Less infos than you I'd have thought.

I left the bike trade 6 months ago and haven't really looked back.
Do miss the banter with workmates and few regular customers. But also started to enjoy riding my bikes a lot more again. Hadn't really figured just how much of a motivation killer daily bike commuting can be for recreational riding until I stopped.

for a system marketed as being super durable and robust, I've seen what seems to be a disproportionately high number of Transmission failures. Maybe just bad luck, but the last few drivetrain failures I've seen were the new SRAM stuff. The bottom mech cage splitting open, the chain snapping, mechs broken clean in half. I like the better frame attachment idea though. And it could just be that all the loony pinners went and got it.

The Transmission derailleurs work great but it seems like they're more prone to hitting crap on the ground, probably due to how big they are. Replacement parts are relatively cheap, which is great, but still.

Nah. That's not luck.
Honestly can't belive folk were so dumb as to belive SRAM's durability claims at launch.

That's Shimano's sales pitch for the upcoming MTB 13-speed gruppos, in part at least. They claim their derailleurs have a slimmer profile and more clearance than their transmission equivalents.

A friend (bike shop owner) was at the UK launch of T type AXS . They had it on a demo bike layn down on its side and asked audience members to stand on the derailleur to demonstrate how indestructible it was. Eager to have a go he volunteered and proceeded to jump on the derailleur and fucked it straight into the rear spokes in front of everyone.
