It's 2021. It would have been nice if Sensus had the ability to ship grips same day as opposed to a few days after an order is placed. I know I'm splitting hairs here, but this is my first online order placed in ages where something wasn't dispatched same-day so long as the order was placed before the cutoff time.

I might need to try to stuff one of these stupid new 1.8'' steerer forks into a frame with a 56mm lower headset cup. I assume that means going external, but does anybody even make such a thing? I poked around a little but haven't found anything.

Good excuse to buy a lathe or ask Works Components to make one?
What fork?

It's like one of those bad Warren Miller summer segments.
One time after eating a bunch of mushrooms, the events of things of that nature led me to stumble onto a warren miller film on tv. In my mental state at the time, he seemed like that guy who would be the crazy uncle no one wants to talk about or invite places, but he shows up anyways and never stops talking and telling crazy stories. I've referred to him as crazy uncle warren ever since.

Yeah, this might be a custom situation.

Wolftooth makes this

Wolf Tooth Lower Headset Cup Extender - ZS - Zero Stack

which is basically a 56/40 external headset. It would probably work if you can find one in stock somewhere.

I had a 56 / 44 external lower cup from one of those UK companies (Superstar or something) a few years ago and wish I had kept it but it ended up staying on a bike that was sold. Don't think they make it any longer.

Unfortunately not. That extends a ZS56 to an external cup, but it still uses a 40mm crown race for a 1.5 steerer. I need a 1.8 crown race (which is so barely a standard that I haven't even found the SHIS size for the crown race yet).

Yes. Derp. I was forgetting about the crown race size and just thinking of a 56 headset cup.

66mm cup, with an internal bearing. Not actually sure what the bearing OD is because this "standard" is so emphatically not yet a standard that nobody publishes full info on it.
When I first saw one at work I thought « cool » but then I realized, It’s an OEM ebike standard that came out of some product managers asking for something that wouldn’t look too out of place on an ebike. This standard is to make the design lines and volume of the crown follow the chubby and full figured down tubes stuffed with li ion cells.

Check on some ebike specialists websites?

I point and laugh at mountainbiking more and more every day. Its like drinking coffee in the writers room for the dave chapelle show.

"youre gonna do do what now? Did I hear that right?"
Ride more, you'll feel better.
