BMX standards 4 LiFe yo. 6mm hex everywhere.just swapped bars...had to use four different size allens. what a pita. i get that my lock on grips need to have small screws, but dropper/brakes/shifter/faceplate have three different sizes? fts.

Normally a 4mm covers most of that, maybe a 5. Was there a 3 or 6? Where?just swapped bars...had to use four different size allens. what a pita. i get that my lock on grips need to have small screws, but dropper/brakes/shifter/faceplate have three different sizes? fts.
I'd rather have a T15 or T20 Torx than a 3 mm AllenNormally a 4mm covers most of that, maybe a 5. Was there a 3 or 6? Where?
At least they didn't throw a Torx in like some do now...
Nothing like having to carry a full set of metric allen keys, a set of torx keys, a 15mm spanner, an imperial allen key set, some multi grips, a pipe wrench and a set of security bits just in case you hit a tree and twist your bars and need to work on the bike mid-ride.Folk here are now moaning about having to use tools to fit bike parts?
FML
Yeah, but the pipe wrench fits ALL BB and CL standards.Nothing like having to carry a full set of metric allen keys, a set of torx keys, a 15mm spanner, an imperial allen key set, some multi grips, a pipe wrench and a set of security bits just in case you hit a tree and twist your bars and need to work on the bike mid-ride.
Yeah, just prefer to keep them not too silly. A few key sizes is alright but why carry a mobile tool chest if you don't have to.So multitools don't exist in Austrailia?
Every day's a school day here.
Well technically it could handle spoke tension…When I got old enough to work on my bikes I started to carry a 6" version of one of these in my back pocket tied to my jeans with a piece of string. This would be about 1975. It covered everything on the bike, outside of spoke tension and chains.

Seems we have made things more complicated than they need to be.
I too would be happy with one or two allen/torx key sizes.
There is no reason this could not be done.

Just waiting for teh Fancies...
What bikes use imperial hex bolts? Serious question.Nothing like having to carry a full set of metric allen keys, a set of torx keys, a 15mm spanner, an imperial allen key set, some multi grips, a pipe wrench and a set of security bits just in case you hit a tree and twist your bars and need to work on the bike mid-ride.
I'm trying to recycle threads. Not one of you "use for one year and discard" people. No wonder the environment is stuffedThe fact that people are posting 2023 team rumours into the 2022 thread
Pretty much any of them if you're a hack. What bikes use imperial hex bolts? Serious question.
Imperial ones, obviously! What bikes use imperial hex bolts? Serious question.
An Evil one? What bikes use imperial hex bolts? Serious question.
Last sae/imperial size fastener I can remember on a bike was the allen head bolts on my bullseye cranks. Man, did I lovehate those cranks…What bikes use imperial hex bolts? Serious question.
I vaguely remember having a Blackspire chainguide with a mix of metric and imperial bolts on it.Last sae/imperial size fastener I can remember on a bike was the allen head bolts on my bullseye cranks. Man, did I lovehate those cranks…
Probably anything sram. What bikes use imperial hex bolts? Serious question.
Different product teams for each one of the derailleur's parts?Probably anything sram.
Seriously, to put a Sram rear derailleur on your bike you need a Torx, hex and a screwdriver. There's only 4 bolts and they fucked it up that bad.
But now I need to carry and authentic mexican child in my pack for any trail side repairs.Don’t say I never did you any favors.
@Gary called and said you're a big whiny babyProbably anything sram.

over a long enough time period, eventually your entire bike will become gorilla tape.I replaced all the fasteners on my bike with gorilla tape

nah the residue will work just fine.Do I need sunblock for Gorilla tape?
Thats what the spackle is for.Do I need sunblock for Gorilla tape?
I've had some rims where the anodization was so smoothing fucking nothing would stick to it. any tape would slide into the center channel.it's funny-i rebuilt my rear wheel last week and the gorilla tape came off relatively easily; areas that didn't and left a bit of residue i figured just provided a bit more for the new tape to adhere to. tire holds air. seems good to me.
A SPOILT whiney baby. GX and below use a 5mm hex@Gary called and said you're a big whiny baby
