Man, if only we had bigger projects or problems to solve as a society/planet, maybe people wouldn't invent fucking pointless gadgets like that. Oh wait...

Well hearing about this did not make my day. Something about the driver swerving into the bike lane and just totally taking this kid out (who was on the roster to go to the JR XC Worlds at Ft William this year). RIP little guy. 17 is way to early to go.

They're nothing new. I PDI'd one for the local Porsche dealer last September.
Same frame as the above. Only with an inverted single crown fork

Porsche used to make MTBs back in the late 90s from memory. Haven't seen or heard of one in awhile though. Looks like the geo numbers are the same as they used back then too.

Yeah. Plenty car manufacturers do.

They're generally overpriced and shit...

Can you tell what this is?

They're really just lifestyle props for the showroom with fuck all thought put into how they'd actually ride

One of Argentina's most media addicted lawyers had one of those BMW atrocities back at the start of the century:

The asshole arrived to our local riding spot with two bodyguards on quad ATVs, also kitted in a BMW jersey and bib shorts. Later we learned one of our guy's girlfriend was a gym buddy from this asshole's girlfriend, and since he got the bike when he bought a new car, he decided he had to "give it a good shakedown" in his own words

Long story short, the bodyguards tried to stop us the minute we faced the first singletrack because their Polaris POS couldn't go between the trees. We looked at the trio of asshats, waved goodbye and disappeared in the forest.

Correction: they had bikes made by the company Votec and just threw all the most expensive parts on it. Similar to what Mercedes did with AMP bikes. I think later/now Rotwild bikes engineers/makes a bunch of the german car manufacturer's bikes/eebs.

ADP Engineering is inolved in almost all of the ZEG group's ebikes, which should bring in a whole lot more dough than their dentist brand.

Porsche appears to be serious about getting into the (e) bike market as a supplier this time around, having bought Fazua recently.

Now they both need to fire all of their car specialist industrial designers and hire some who had worked in the bike industry, and they're bound to rule the ebike world!

I heard they were going to make a nice Sports Utility Bike with a 15" high BB, 36" wheels and computer controlled suspension so it rides like a regular E bike but just in a more pretentious way.

Then offer a lightweight version with no dropper post and a smaller battery for an additional $5,000.

Considering how small an area I'm in I have seen quite a bit of WTF..(both fox and rockshox).. I understand people mess up and i don't talk shit against companies being things happen and they have been good in response, actually rockshox has been AMAZING when I have issues...that company is weird sometimes the guy answering tries my patients, others I am floored at how they just get it done and want a good outcome...fox is a fight almost always...

So yeah I agree there's some issues that pour out at times... But when I call and get more than I was asking about and they want the customer happy , it makes me smile and realize that there's still some that respect the ones that buy there product.

It's not without some wanting to stab something with a rusty spoon ...lol so when it's smooth and they give a crap it's pretty damn cool...my end is pretty easy for the most part, some screwups put me out and leave me hanging so I address it by eating initial cost buy and work it out after customer is taken care of...got options to get things when in need and use it when needed.

oh fuck yeah, that's a hannebrink
No, the fork is made by Votec as well. All you guys that ask for dual crown forks on XC/trail/enduro bikes, they have been there for a long time. In the beginning they build conventional forks with elastomers, later adding a damper cartridge. Later they moved to USD forks. Quite well made forks for the time and not too heavy. Sadly always hold back by their internals.

So all we need Is for @bullcrew to lay his hands on one of those and figure out how to put an Ohlins cartridge in there and we'll have the perfect USD fork? :D

I remember the elastomer powered versions, a guy down here had a Mercedes Benz branded bike with one of those. All CNC, about 20 bolts between the crowns and the "stem".

The main claim in the user manual was you could adjust the travel anywhere between 40 and 180 mm IIRC by moving elastomers between the positive and negative sides of the travel rod.

My old Kowa forks could go from 200 or 160 to about 40mm just by turning the knob.
But with the bushing being as loose as they were from new you effectively had 0mm travel 95% of the time.
I don't think I have ever had such a shit Japanese product as Kowa forks, I really hope they went broke, they deserved to.

The friction anti bottoming system was the best part, the stanchion ground its way up a taper on the air spring to stop you bottoming violently. Why did I buy two Kowa forks?

Because of your language.... taking "a pair of forks" literally! :rimshot:
Yeah I am usually a singular fork and handlebar type person, I think the single crown fork got two warranty CSU's.
Wish I still had a photo of where they'd hammered roll pins in, looked like it was the first time somebody had used a hammer, they hit the crown so many times.

Edit-Yes my grammar is poor, I swap between singular and pairs, oops. I need an English refresher course, I remember nothing from school.
