Sport isn't organised for the fans. silly. It's organised so owners and highest paid employees get wealthy from fans money.

That's still your "uniform" . Just because you desperately try to look like you're not part of certain territorial cliques doesn't guarantee not fitting straight into another one. I wish you young hipsters well in your quest for individuality though.

Went to several shops today looking for a full face helmet, large shops that sell long travel and DH bikes. Only size smalls in stock. Of course I got the "we can order one for you". When I mentioned that ensuring a good fit was critical to picking a helmet was told I didn't have to pay if the ordered helmet didn't fit. When I asked if they could order a size medium and large for every model they offer I got a blank stare. Called around and it looks like a moto shop that sells e-bikes may have a good selection.

go to the bike park. Highland’s pro shop has an excellent selection and don’t have the worst prices. I’m sure other parks are like that.

Go online. Order $2k in helmets in different sizes. Try on, find the one that fits best, return the rest.

And that :stupid:

is exactly why most physical bike shops won't stock $50k of different FF helmets in every colour/combination/size.
Tons of riders try on helmets in shops knowing fine well if they find one they like they're going to leave without buying it and order it online for a lower price

Why it is so smart to have shelves full of $200 size small helmets.

Probably all that's left after they bought $50k worth of various helmets last year.

My rant - if you're going to sell goggles at least carry some spare fricken lenses for them. Geezus

A lot smarter than...For ONE dude they have no idea if'll even buy any at all at the end of the charade.

You'd have been laughed out of the shop in a more civilized country

.

They don't understand sarcasm in civilized countries?

Shame.

Yeah, or I don't get how at every shop or store, I can never find gloves in L and XL (usually XL is what I need). Jesus, it shouldn't be rocket science to ORDER MOAR XL GLOVES. I mean, you gotta give Texas credit, you can walk into any store and buy XXXL pants. They know their demographic.

The entire point of a shop is they have this stuff so you can try it on. Otherwise you just order from chainreaction or something and have it delivered.

I’m so glad that chain reaction and wiggle managed to ruin so many local bike shops by under cutting the market and are now recording such fine profits as (checks notes) negative $1 million.

after their issues with not being able to sell shimano In North America, brexit, and then the capitulation of the bike market post covid boom, no wonder they’re feeling the pinch.

I wonder how it may affect Nuke Proof going forward

Rant of the day for me: We have a sweet BMX track. But no shops sell anything BMX. I want to get my kid into it and for me to hop up my old school Bontrager, but I have to call Danscomp.com to figure anything out. No shop local does BMX. Actually, Danscomp said they had the same thing. One of the best tracks in the state near where he lives, but no one sells or works on BMX bikes.

We don't have a sweet bmx track but one of our shops refuses to stock or work on BMX bikes. They do this because it's easier than saying meth heads aren't allowed in the shop.

When I need new stuff that requires trying on, I swing by one of the HQs of big mailorders when travelling and try it on there. Luckily Hibike is close to my mom's place and they basically have everything they stock available for trying on in the shop if you let them know ahead of time.

No.
Sorry to break this to you but Helmets are NOT the entire point of a cycle shop.
They're simply a small trivial non essential accessory.
A bit like condoms in a barbers.

You sound like a man with common sense!
I ride pretty much every day so have absolutely tons of biking clothing, for pretty much every cycle discipline and all conceivable (UK) conditions. despite having six I rarely ever wear a helmet so it's pretty rare I'll buy anything new at all clothing wise.
Id bet most folk on here are similarly well kitted out for the types of riding they do already too.
If Westy absolutely needed a helmet. ie. He'd obliterated his one and only helmet and needed to ride ASAP I'd bet he'd have found something suitable pretty quickly.
