It takes a special type of jackass to take the first year of women competing at Rampage and turn it into a video ranking the attractiveness of the competitors, including pulling swimsuit and workout pictures from their social media for reference material. Not sure what line you're referring to, but to me the line of "what's wrong with the industry" is always going to be crossed when dudes decide that having women in the sport is just an excuse to comment on their bodies or generally be creeps.
"...including pulling swimsuit and workout pictures from their social media..."

Isn't the problem bigger than what Torquato did? Why do female athletes feel the need to post these pictures to their social media? Does this help them with sponsorship?

No, people can post whatever they choose to their own social media.

The REAL bigger problem is that assclowns like torquato pull these images and share them without the owners consent for the purpose of getting social media views by objectifying them.

I see all points in these arguments.
I dont think Taco man is cool for doing it.
Its all just hypocrisy and people getting their shit in knots over it is simple.
Me.. i disapprove of contemporary social media, those that monetise it, monetise sport for big profit etc
It all blends together, and getting upset about it all when in the big picture its quite trivial compared to Fucking wars, homelessness, and struggling to live remotely comfortably for the middle-lower class..
Worlds full of hate….i fucking hate it

Yeah, people in their 20s living their lives and posting stuff the way that young people do. Doesn't give anyone license to take those images and rank their appearance against others with the same career.

Unless its a 3rd party, which got your permission when you signed up to the social platform, who buys it from said Platform…or the NSA?
But definitely not a dopey ass mtb’er

Misunderstood me much? That is not what I said. It is an asshat move from Taco, but "the industry" is/has been shaping and rewarding this behaviour for too long. Too many of us and the athletes played along for too long. You just have to take a look in the "no context" thread on here.
The more you put out on your social media, the more you make yourself vulnerable to it being missused (remember when Kidwoo used a picture you posted to make fun of your hairline?). So why are there swimsuit pictures of athletes that are not swimmers? Do these athletes feel the need/pressure to put them out there because it increases their market value? If yes, than this is what is wrong with the industry.

Basic SoMe understanding is important. If you put it out there, people will use it, also in a way you do not want. Either you have to be cool with it or be more conscious what you post.
And that is not saying that Taco is not an asshat for what he did.

just because that's the reality of the internet doesn't make it OK.
100% agree.
Theft is also not OK, but I still lock my front door. This does not 100% protect me but minimizes the chances of me becoming a victim. Unfortunately we do not live in a perfect society, so you have to adjust to the reality. That doesn't mean we should stop trying to change this, quite the opposite IMO.

I've been Facebook free for years.

It's great. I no longer get invited to any events that I didn't want to goto in the first place.

Only downside is that the marketplace seems to be a happening spot?

I think everyone gets your point, but it's less clear why you insist on making it. You're inching toward victim-blaming and that's not cool.

Slagging a close friend's hairline* (in good jest) is as close as some guys will ever get to actually hugging that friend.

In this particular example a man has taken a moment in sports history where women are getting recognised for competing at a new level, then reduced those competitors to a beauty contest that they didn’t sign up for.

It’s a really dumb hill to die on if you’re trying to make this about what people should or shouldnt share on social media. People should feel free to share a picture of themselves in the context of “At the beach” or “At the gym” without it being removed from that context and scrutinised.

There were numerous Best Bike/Best Kit polls on PB, to lower that already low bar to “best looking female rider, based on years worth of their social media posts” is beyond grimy.

Got to love the bro mentality of people who think toxic masculinity is made up, but can’t tell a friend they care about them in any way other than sack taps and merciless bullying.

TBF The term "Toxic masculinity" was made up.
Sometime in the 80s I believe.

Well, yeah, all words and phrases are made up - we recognise patterns and give them names, it’s like saying PTSD, concussion and erectile dysfunction are all made up.

Yes. All words and phrases have origin. Some over time become more overused/misused than others.

Well, just as everyone has piled on and said that The Pros Closet was a dumpster fire and we collectively can’t believe it took that long to declare bankruptcy….its starting again. Intellectual property was bought after bankruptcy proceedings so no debt taken on, and the new ownership is all ex staff from before the PE/VC money came in so maybe they can make it work

So this is annoying, smashed my Time Speciale 10 pedal into a rock and bent one of the clipless rails (dunno wtf the part is called). Now I have to submit a warranty claim through Jensen because Time don't sell spare parts as far as I can tell. Granted it would be nice if I could get the spare parts / new pedal for free, but I assume there's going to be a back and forth for a few days/weeks to get the parts I need.
