Well, just as everyone has piled on and said that The Pros Closet was a dumpster fire and we collectively can’t believe it took that long to declare bankruptcy….its starting again. Intellectual property was bought after bankruptcy proceedings so no debt taken on, and the new ownership is all ex staff from before the PE/VC money came in so maybe they can make it work

So this is annoying, smashed my Time Speciale 10 pedal into a rock and bent one of the clipless rails (dunno wtf the part is called). Now I have to submit a warranty claim through Jensen because Time don't sell spare parts as far as I can tell. Granted it would be nice if I could get the spare parts / new pedal for free, but I assume there's going to be a back and forth for a few days/weeks to get the parts I need.View attachment 221228

this is my main gripe since SRAM bought Time. You used to be able to buy replacement springs separately - they were considered a wear item (and in all honesty, it is the achilles heel of those pedals). I have the MX series. Bought a set of fancy ones on clearance a while back, and now procure the base-model cheap ones whenever I see them at a discount. The springs are the same on high and low end ones, so I scavenge them for parts if ever I wear out or bend a spring. They can be had pretty cheap if you're paying attention - like $40 for a pair. The last time I bought replacement springs, it was $35 for two springs - enough for one pedal....

fwiw, I contacted the warranty dept at SRAM (maybe 3 years ago now?), and they said that at the moment they don't sell replacement springs, and weren't planning on it. but if enough people asked, they might consider it.

Well this is annoying and (another) reason to hate eebs: Canyon battery Recall on Spectral:On and Torque:On with Shimano & Trend Power Battery:

Seems like it's been an issue that's being going on for awhile, but Canyon has been dragging their feet.

TLDR: Canyon shipped ebikes with faulty batteries and now wants owners to not ride their bike until they receive a replacement battery (god knows how long that will be).

How did I miss all these posts? Color me weak RM sauce. Boo. But I do carry the shirts. Thanks @FullTrucker.

Anywho. All I can say is to quote one of my favorite movies.

From PB's review on the Devinci Troy

"SRAM Code brakes The Code is such a great brake for bikes like this and arguably would have a better reputation with riders en masse if it had never been positioned as the all-out gravity brake. I don't necessarily think the flak the system comes in for is justified, and on a shorter travel bike, you get the great feeling and adjustment the Codes always had, but without the demands of needing the power they don't have. Devinci complements the Codes with the thicker HS2 rotors, which seems like a no-brainer to me."

Looks like gaslighting us and telling peoples its a great DH brake if you like having actual modulation instead of stupidly having good power is finally out, and recognizing it's an under-powered piece of shit is finally in. Maybe at some point we can get some acknowledgement that it's just a piece of shit and doesn't belong on any bike at some point here, but baby steps I guess.

"Great feeling" my ass, it feels like pulling sludge with a mushy bite point that doesn't really do shit about fuck.

Good ol' YouTube comments, he was the Fraggle Rock dude.

I still remember loading the preview tape of Boondock Saints in to the ol' Panasonic VHS having never heard of the movie and having zero idea what it was about.
It was so damn good!
Having to watch shit like Gladiator, that was what was wrong with the movie industry, I was not entertained.

Anyway, back on topic, tapered steerers and E bikes can still get fucked!

Yeah sure its a meme, but wait till you spend $1500 on my latest air spring shock offering, then you'll finally know what it feels like to experience what a $60 coil will get you for an extra 120g.

Whats the actual weight difference these days? I haven't looked in ages.

*edit* looks like about 240g - 450g depending on shock model . Not too shabby given the reliability increase and more consistent feel. Gets a bit more gnarly when you do a coil fork as well I suppose

I had 220g (0.035 stone) diffence in 2017 for a 200x51 shock between a X2 and a Fast Suspension Holy grail with a 350 lbs/in SAR coil.
A slight weight increase just above the bb is not that bad, is it?

I already have that pack, it's called the Camelback Skyline.

And yeah, if you really want your back to breathe and not sweat out, get a USWE IME. That actually does a good job at cutting down on the amount of water needed and is secure.
What makes them cooler than a normal pack?
I always assumed they'd be pretty hot with the extra wide straps on the front and with the lack of dancing monkey, obviously no science behind my assumption.

I still miss my old Deuter with the trampoline back thingy.

Some of the Camelbak packs have like a mesh wind tunnel thing between the backpack and the rider (Air Support or something). From my experience with them, its actually works really well at making them feel cooler

USWE, it takes up a lot less real estate on your back and straps config just makes it a lot cooler IME, better flow around it and good use of mesh.

Hope (and I guess others) are now making cranks that work on a 73mm wide BB now!

No, no... Not a 73mm wide BB. A 73mm WIDE BB!
How do I know? Well, my fucking cranks have a 7mm gap between the BB and crankarm now. Apparently the ol' 73mm wide BB was too good for too long. Hope says on their website- "We are seeing a number of new bikes using a 55mm chainline, therefore we have designed the Hope Evo 73mm wide specifically for this application.". Notice how "wide" isn't emphasized? Apparently the shop didn't notice a difference and just ordered that crank.

In turn, the crank spindle is now longer by 7mm to adapt for this. FFS, USE A FUCKING 83mm BB ALREADY!!! Call it 83mm and stop fucking with this shit.
