You know whats good about bearings? Standard sizes. You know whats frigging stupid - custom bearings.

Mate of mine asked for help changing the bearings in his BB. One bearing was a 6904 and labelled as such. BUT A CUSTOM 22mm ID SIZE. Why the hell label it a 6904???

Isn't this just a pretty normal size for a Spanish BB with 22 mm axle?

Just the seal was labeled, maybe factory bom mix up or the seal was replaced after the fact?
Both sides were labelled as 6904. Bloody weird. I was trying to reinstall and the crank and it wouldn't fit haha. Total gongshow.

FWIW - this sort of shit is why I have Shimano cranks and BBs on all my bikes. I'm too stuck in my ways to learn anything more complicated about BB maintenance than "Remove old BB. Replace with new $40 BB. Jobs a good 'un"
