No, but I grew up North end of Marin........so yeah. Our friend who placed top 10 at the last Hangtown MX 500 race used to ride in the hills. Had a water tank cut into the hillside he used to ride the hill cutout like a half pipe on the 500. Must have been 60-90 feet from edge to edge. The cops never caught him....

That might help a bit, but I don't think it gets to the heart of the debate, which is that a bike with a motor isn't a bicycle to all but those trying to rationalize it as such.

And, yeah, some of the trails around here are on shaky ground, access-wise.
You see? I had your back when you went "ebikes cause problems". Since that's a real argument if it's true. But the whole "vegan milk is not milk" is literally the angry meatboy debate but with bikes. Who cares what we name them? Either e-bikes cause problems or not. It doesn't matter if we call them E-Bikes, Mopeds or Satan.

Not sure the sort of punter to deliberate for months to choose a bike then weeks to fit plastic film to it before actually riding the thing need worry TBH.
Gary I'm sorry I didn't buy a bike when no bike I was interested in was available due to supply shortages. I hope you can forgive me. I also hope you don't think I'm an inferior, lower class of biker because I didn't rush with the wrap when I could not ride anyway so me wrapping it faster would not made me ride faster (If you really want I can provide you rotting toe pictures as proof so you can excuse me and not deduct true biker points from me).

Though I know I can never pass your strict test of what it means to be a true biker but thankfully I enjoy my riding away from judgmental people who think you can only have fun if you follow some dumb arbitrary bikebro rules.

Me + Colorado rox + riding style + fatness == I need DD casings or greater in the rear. Otherwise slicey slicey.

Assist is nice to pop out of slow turns. I generally ride in Trail mode all the time, though. Feels the most natural, if you will.
That's why not the "all trails require it". Sure I'd use thick sidewalls on a rocky trail or if the trail or my skill created latteral loads that resulted in float. Not judging. Some people need it.

It's just too many people assume they need it (hell I was one of them for a long time)

First time FT showed me Lenawee, we rode it from keystone.

He's a dick.
Like you both didn't drive to Keystone in a car? LOL Then take a car up to A-basin/Lenawee.

Maybe that wasn't an option. But definitely an option when lightning closes Keystone. That is my main reason. But usually on a DH bike.

I only know one masochist named Jerry (You probably know him) who would not only ride his DH bike up highway 6 and then up the service road at A-basin to reach Lenawee.

The Legend of Jerry continues into riding up Vail pass from the village because just doing 2elks/Commando Run wasn't enough. Probably cuz we shuttled it.

:)

The trend of downhillers wishing they were moto-x riders has a long history in our sport.

Specialized testing the waters for where this will eventually go for the big brands. Bookmark this post as my receipt for later.

You think Special ED will just make an E Moto? My friend that used to work at SHOWA has one he is looking at comes kitted with KYB suspension I believe. If they weigh 200LBS or 150 it need an MX set up....

King only makes boost and super boost hubs? But they make rim brake hubs too. No 135/142 or 150mm hubs?

Centerlock is dumbass.
I would never build a custom set of wheels with centerlock, but when you buy a new bike and the wheels it comes with has centerlock. You're kinda stuck. Unless you want to spend all that time and energy to convert. Speaking from experience. But that's with an ebike and I'm a dumbass for buying one :)

Dumbass's thing is: They put the magnet in the centerlock to not only have your ebike work but to track your speed, distance, etc. So if you change a wheel to 6 bolt, you gotta hack/bodge the magnet to make your ebike work. I know cuz I've done this.

where the trails are
Now that I have a few CL rotor hubs, I think it's fine. The only downside is the stack of 6b rotors I have, but if the industry lizards have taught us anything it's that they WILL change standards and we WILL fall in line, sooner or later.

anything in good/sellable condition?
yep. 6, 7 and 8" shimano and formula 6b rotors. what do you need?

honestly, while I like to keep all bikes uniform (brakes, tires, etc) having CL rotors on the road bike and new trail bike is a non-issue. tighten the lock ring properly and it's set and forget.
