a guy on pinkbike asked about Avalanche shocks and this is a cut n paste of someones reply:
"a shock is a shock (in some ways.). if its for racing or "going huge" it makes no difference. some things that you should know about shocks when looking to buy.
1. shocks only break due to poor frame design (too much stress on shock)
2. A "racing" shock is used when you need very fine tuning in order to keep your rear wheel on the ground. and ability to take small chatter bumps and also big full travel bumps efficently.
3. If you do big hits and not much racing any shock will work (fox for example) due to the fact it only has one job to be good at. staying in one piece
If you are not going to race the bike than a Avalance is a waist of money. the only thing that the Av has that is one up on the common fox shock is the adjustability and stable prformance of the shock.
if you want to change your shock because its blowing up on you all the time than I would say that you will blow up a Avalanche just as fast as the fox. talk to Balfa as to what there surgestions are to your problem (if there is one) or you just looking for places to spend money on the bike?"
now not only is this really really wrong, but after people pointed out the flaws in his logic he is still posting defending himself....sheesh....
