i just rebled both my hope m6ti brakes and also i disconnected the hoses from the master cylinder. i had to leave my bikes outside and its been a mix of super thick fog and rain all day and now my hoses right near where they connect have turned white. it looks like there is condensation between the plastic and the steel braiding.

is it condensation? or dot fluid? or something else like a chemical reaction?

will it make the plastic seperate from the steel braiding? can the steel rust? can the plastic crack? can my brakes fail?

should i replace the hoses? take them off and clean them? cut the white parts off and reconnect and bleed? take to lbs? buy juicy carbons or shimano saints?

So long as the rubber (inner liner) inside the braid is good to go, you should be fine, the inner liner is the actual brake hose. The steel braid is there just to keep the inner liner from expanding too much giving you a faster and more consistent brake response. The plastic around the steel braid is to protect your bike from gettin tore up. Stainless rubs on aluminum... good bye aluminum.

Oh yea, to answer your question about the whitish residue... a small amount of brake fluid may have traveled up the stainless steel braid (wick effect) and discolored the plastic shield.

i tried squeezing the cable to see if it was condensation, like when you touch a window with condensation in it, but nothing happened.

so its either powder residue left over from a chemical reaction of the dot fluid and the hose or its residue left from the condesation. or its just saturated with dot fluid.

You're fine. It's just a bit of moisture between the plastic and the stainless cable. Will have no adverse effect whatsoever on the braking performance.

Go ride the piss outta them, they're good brakes.
