What is this thing with Microsoft giving free/massively discounted copies of XP to people with pirated copies? Do they mean copies they bought and attempt to look legal, or downright burned copies? My new compy that I recently built is running on a pirated copy of XP that I previously had on my other compy, but the new compy doesn't seem to like the pirated XP in regards to networking, so I figure I might as well bite the 125$ bullet and get a legit copy...or get a new burned copy. Any enlightenment from the monkey masses?

The "catch" for the exchange program is you have to provide proof that you purchased the pirated copy, and from who.

IE: They're pretty much handing you a free copy of XP for burning a shop thats using pirated copies of XP on the machines they're selling.

Nope, no catch likwid. Read it properly. You get a FREE copy if you can provide this info, otherwise you get a very steeply discounted copy (around $150 for pro).

I guess they figured $150 is better then $0.
