In the case of Boeing, (which is my closest experience with unions), I'd have to say that actually yes, the evil union worker is exploiting the company.
That's the thing though isn't it. We can both find examples (real or imagined) that would show one angle or the other as being exploitative.

I do feel that in the UK there is too much emphasis placed on the revenue/expense/profit aspect and to little thought of what makes a good society. However, many people are also too greedy and expect too much for too little.
