This weekend I was talking about the rack with a friend who also has one and he showed me just how easy it is to defeat the Thule lock on the arm that secures the front tire... jezus! It took less than a second to release the tire from arm and remove the bike...

What I am saying is DO NOT think that the stock Thule locks are securing your bike in anyway!

It doesn't take any tools what so ever.. It's so easy, I hesitate to tell how to do it on this forum...

I always wanted to try it but I didn't feel like deflating my tire. I lock it just for piece of mind that the arm won't move while I'm driving.

I have to think that if the arm is in the right spot you can't do it - but you probably can.

I always use a cable/ulock... except when going inside for a couple of hours. Then I lock my bike to a bike rack/railing/post, like it was a busboy's Huffy.

Pretty much. If you can push the hook down at all it will disengage the lock and then you can just pull it right off.

I was going to ask the same question. I never trust just the rack lock, they are all pretty worthless.

I'm all about redundancy. Put 2 or 3 locks on there and the thief will just move on.

And if your using QR, it's as simple as removing the bike from locked wheel, then roll the arm back to free the wheel.
definitly use an additional lock!

Seriously...I've got the old school Sportworks (flashes gang sign), with the bungee action. I just use a cable lock...
