Good sleep last night, I think I hit the pillow and didn't wake up until my alarm went off. Definitely still tired though, a few more hours would have been great.

But anyways, work and coffee'ing it now.

Got myself a pair of Airpods. Used to share with my son but he is using them too much now. Podcasts are the best at the gym.

I am excited about the house I am looking at tomorrow. Its from 1908 and 1750sf plus basement and attict.

tinnitus is bad. feeling sick right now too so that is definitely compounding things. Nothing seems to help and there is nothing that can be done. Yay!

Have you gotten checked out for Meniere's Disease? Tinnitus was one of my symptoms with vertigo moderate enough to make it difficult to call it vertigo. Thankfully my solution was to simply cut down on salt.

Went for a run with a local group yesterday.
This seems like a good thing to do and I have been meaning to look into finding a group. The problem I have is finding people who can run my speed. I am not bragging, I am just saying.

Anyway, I ran 5.25 miles on the high school track before work. 11 degrees...not bad though because there was no wind. My legs were feeling last night's hard bike workout.

I like a local group, frankly I need the peer pressure because running is dumb and everything hurts so I'm not terribly motivated to do it by myself.

Last night's group definitely does things a lot different than my group back home. Not that that's a bad thing, was just different. Also the group here definitely skewed "younger" and more "fashionable" wanting to see and be seen. I may have been the creepy old man last night. The group at home is certainly more of an all ages/skill levels affair and even has a fair share of walkers, with less emphasis on finding someone to hook up with and more on just a community of suffering running. The wife and I have met some neat people, gotten suckered into a whole bunch of races. It's a good thing IMHO.

i will say this, based on my recent (last 5 years) trips back home, pittsburgh is becoming notably gentrified. a lot of the old places I used to hang out - venues / clubs, bars, restaurants, indy shops - are now fancy boutiques under luxury apartments.

Sounds like downtown Minneapolis.

I have an appointment with an ENT but it's not until March. I had to fight to even be seen, as "they don't treat tinnitus" and referred me to the tinnitus treatment center, which doesn't do health-related issues...so I had to call the ENT back and effectively lie in order to get an appointment. I am unimpressed.

Anyways, meniere's has come up in the past and I will certainly ask about it. I am concerned that this may be health related (ie a tumor) as the intensity has multiplied like 5x and my migraines have disappeared in the last 5 months, but I'm not sure who to complain to until march.

I find running a fan on a low setting creates enough white noise that it sort of blends the tinnitus into a more tolerable background element and not an audio focal point. Give it a try.

I love going deep into the backcountry but sometimes it can get almost painfully quiet. In the 100 mile wilderness of Maine there was a section where everything was covered in sound insulating green moss and no animals were around. Not a single bird or squirrel. It was so quiet that it was actually a little uncomfortable because of the tinnitus.

I hate folks who don't understand the concept of a "stand up meeting" despite the fact we aren't actually standing up. It's still meant to be a sub 15 minute update, not a troubleshooting session, or a "let me just show this thing real quick". This meeting should never be more than 15 minutes and ideally less. If you want help, we can do it after the meeting so not everyone is involved. Fuck.

Hi ppls

working 11-6 from home today. Dropped off a jacket at the Patagonia store to get a new zipper and grabbed Shake Shack from a few blocks away since I was down there anyway.

plus I asked to pet someone’s dog while walking back to my car and they just mumbled something unintelligible and walked off. probably some issues going on with them! I still would have liked to say hi to the happy doggo though
