Someone seems to be slacking BIG TIME today. :disgust1:

What's going on, monkeys? It's a crappy rainy day here in southern New England.

My excitement last night consisted of opening a checking account at my credit union and getting a free LED lantern as a gift for doing so.

Well, my opinion is that Grey hound is still pissed that a semi-drunk Konabumm one upped him on yesterday's! :busted:

Had a nice quick XC ride last night at our local trails, then hiked with the tyke while mom and friends did a quick loop. Today = my Friday, headed to visit relatives on Long Line Land, where it is predicted to rain all weekend...

later on.

Finally finished up being audited by the FAA this morning, something that turned in to a 13 hour affair. Thankfully it's finally done.

I'm about to whip up some bacon and eggs for my employees and hopefully get out of here on time tonight to a get ride in after work.

Morning all. My middle school concert went well last night. I do have a good bunch of kids and I will especially miss my 8th graders :( I have been their only music teacher for 5 years and it's amazing to see how much they have grown (physically, musically and emotionally).

Enough of the sappy crap...more concerts today followed by several well-earned cold tops and LOST (if I don't fall asleep this time).

Waiting on the heatwave.

Should be about 105 at work today. Luckily I will be in:

The office (AC) or
The cold storage building (mega AC...36 degrees)

Working on putting together a set of songs to start rehearsals for an upcoming trip to Europe in August.

Morning monkeys. I have been a stranger to here as of late. Been working a lot of overtime the last couple of weeks. On a good note I got my new road ride. A 2007 demo Pinnarello f4:13. This is freaking sweet! Had a "sick day" yesterday to spend some time on it.

mornin monkeys.

had a nice ride yesterday. couple of hours. on the way home i was able to ride up this daunting hill. it's split up into 3 mini hills with a flat area between each. up to now i've had to stop at each flat and take a breather before attempted the next one. yesterday i was able to ride up the whole thing. i love when stuff like that happens and you can SEE the progress you've made. feels great.

looks like we're in for rain into the weekend so i'm glad i got out yesterday.

should be a slow rest of the week, so i'm milking it.

have a great day monkeys

i sold my car yesterday! now am actually considering not buying another one and doing Zipcar instead. will make a separate thread.

last night and tonight i had/have rehearsals 22 miles from home for a weekend gig. i don't like to drive in rush hour, don't like to pay for gas, and should be minimizing use of the car now that it's sold (but not shipped yet -- it's headed to Alberta via Montana), so did a e-bike/bus/e-bike commute down there. takes me at least 1.5 hrs in total vs. 60 minutes in traffic (30 min if at midnight), but that's an acceptable compromise for me in return for being free and clean.

I would love to be able to go car free, but my dumb ass got a job 65 miles away from where i live. Stupid NJ and High wadges and PA and their low real estate.

What does that mean exactly?
My company ships hazardous goods for the medical industry world-wide so we're subject to the laws of the FAA. They like to walk in to give you surprise audits to make sure we're following regulations.

This particular audit spanned 4 days and has caused for a stressful week. We've come out clean on the other side, but I'm damned sure glad it's done.

i trust that you've actually crunched the numbers for gas, maintenance, insurance, and depreciation and it came out in favor of living far away for the nominally higher wage?

Morning,

Fun ride last night with BVNEMBA at Hodges. I think the total count was 14. The wobbly bridge of death claimed only two riders. Next week it looks like we are riding in Sutton.

Not raining here in MA but it is cloudy. It looks like I won't get my work done early enough to go to FOMBA. I will probably hit up Rayburn with Bad DNA.

Tested out the new camera on last nights ride. It is an Olympus Stylus 850. I got it because it is shockproof and waterproof but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. The first charge of the battery is dying already after only 62 pics! It is also larger than I like and only takes movies in 10 second clips. Low light pics have a long lag and look a little worse than my old Canon.

Yep...for the modest house we have now, I could not touch anything within 20-25 miles of work for under 500,000., and after doing the number crunch, it was a no-brainer.

In our group of about 30 people, about half live in PA. We are trying to get the office moved, or have another office opened in PA, but I dont see it happening.

Morning monkeys!

Sitting in the Wallingford area, pirating me some bandwidth.

"High impact" workout last night. Was feeling a little tired before I went, but glad I did. I got to smack around a bunch of punk-a$$ black belts. Always fun to watch their faces as I'm coming at them full force and then not touch them.

and you accounted for the lost hours of your life spent commuting in the car? no way that you could swing a condo or apartment in town? maybe my perspective on things was warped by growing up in manhattan, but i would hate to have to drive an hour+ each day in the best of conditions, let alone in commuter traffic.

Ahh.

We get an audit of sorts just about every week here.

We ship grapevines all over north America so we have county ag inspectors in here once a week at this time of year to inspect the plants before shipping. They issue state and federal phytosanitary certificates.

We had a blanket inspection a couple weeks ago for light brown apple moth (LBAM). We passed but it's only a matter of time before we will have to have every single shipment inspected no matter where it is going.

Considering some days in peak season I ship 50,000 vines or more.....ugh.

I hear ya. We're subject to the TSA also so I get them in here a couple times a year. Luckily the people I see are more professional than the punks you have to pass through when you're boarding a plane.
