Well I spoke to soon about not riding on ice. Last nights ride was almost half footstep addled ice. We call it bombtrack. It is like riding in the slipperiest rock garden. Were it wasn't ice it was hardpack addled with footsteps. With the refreeze the snow was almost entirely rideable though. It was f'n cold too. Just about one of the hardest winter rides I have gone on all year. I am so totally beat up. I thought if anyone was going to get hurt it would have been last night. It was treacherous. Nobody went down so all is well. Did a couple of runs down Cobbs Hill that scared that heck out of me. It was fun. we will probably go out tonight. That is all.......jdcamb

Nice and sunny here! Rode 4 mini trails that all connect together, about 10 miles in all. Tight, twisty single track :thumb: Had a good ride but my legs felt really tired.

Glad to see someone else besides me in rochester rides their bike in the winter! Isn't it fun having to defrost your bike after the ride, always nice when I get back to the house and realize my front derailleur is totally frozen in place or other such pleasant surprises.

:( I was gonna ride but got a customer on the phone who needed a nice ear to vent into for over an hour.

Didn't get home till after 5...crud - and I started my day at 5:45 and didn't eat lunch...

The bubble bath and wine are helping ease my tensions tho :thumb:

First day of spring is in 9 days I think. I got in two full hours on the trail after work, and only needed the lights for the last 30 minutes or so. Woohoo! Is it daylight savings yet?

I got an hour and a half on the secret trails...First ride since 22 miles of Capitol Saturday. Put down payment of $1100 on my new bike! Working two jobs sucks

Man, I remember riding the crap outta my bike in the winter back in NY. Ah, the bad old days. Waiting for the snow to melt on our local trails, we'd ride by like 3x a week, stare at the trailhead covered in snow, and sigh.
As it stands now, Cali is quite a bit warmer. Road ride tomorrow, I might just need some knee warmers! :)

I fell HARD last night off of a retaining wall, and REALLY smashed my ankle.
The wall was covered with snow, and I had skinny tires on. When I fell off,
I didn't get unclipped until the last second, (4-5 feet off the ground) which
didn't bode well for my ankle. I refuse to go to Emergency. RICE and Advil
for me, for awhile......
