They have been on the ground in Chicago and the death-toll continues to rise. Currently it is about 3 times that of the death-toll in Iraq.

After our decades long "War on Poverty", it is time to raise the white flag.:banghead:

I love rhetoric. Even better is solutions:

NYC:

1993: 2400 murders
2006: 596
2007: 484

Crime can diminish.

that's right, pull out of Iraq and lets protect our own city streets. Bring the same soldiers dressed in camo and machine guns and sit them in the class rooms of our inner cities. why not?

it's also warmer in iraq than here; are we exporting global warming?

i still content we should withdraw, but stay staged in the region so we can quickly squelch target-rich environments. i know it lacks the necessary humint for 100% eradication, but i'm just applying the 90-10 rule, which ain't that bad (especially when applying soldiers' lives)

ed: "This week US death toll in City of Chicago higher then in Nation of Iraq"

Well we do need to keep a presence there. Kind of like we have done in German and S. Korea for decades.

Maybe we can use some of Clinton's "volunteers" from Americorp.

No, I totally believe we need to keep a presence there and a few other places world wide. But right now the amount of soldiers we have there for the length we have had them there and the money spent to keep them there, could be used right here. And hell, why not right in the school system combing the schools for crime.

I was in Chicago last night. Lucky to have survived. That place is crazy.
We actually do some MTBing in Chicago (not urban... MTB). It's always a interesting ride.

They are comparing troop deaths to civilian deaths. Why not compare apples to apples?
How many Iraqi civilians died in the aforementioned week? No troops died in Chicago in this time.

Wow...Iraq is really becoming a safe place these days. They're really lucky that we are spending the $10B per month to keep the terrorists away.

Actually more people died of heart attacks in Chicago this week than American soldiers died in Iraq. Obviously you guys need to withdraw from KFC.

Vibiker, are you are just going run your mouth and then cry when people prove you wrong?

Because when Manimal or Stinkle and the other people I generally disagree with make a good point, I research it a little and change my opinion.

maybe obama needs to go back there and do some more community organizing to stop the crime ;)

btw, as a gang investigator i pay close attention to crime trends in chi-town. chicago is the birthplace of one of the largest ongoing criminal enterprises in the world. many of the inner city "relief funds" are fronts for organized crime. that place just suxors all over.

First of all, that's the work he did straight out of college. McCain was busy playing grabass with exotic dancers at the equivalent time and Palin was an aspiring sportscaster (after transferring between several sub-par institutions in search of one that would graduate her underperforming ass). Second, read up on the specifics of the work he did. It's impressive. Gave up more lucrative prospects to do thankless, title-less work that had a major impact on a lot of good, struggling people. I'd say that says a lot about his character and his leadership skills...

Wasn't the Community Agitator ,er, Organizer gig, with ACORN? Aren't they the Radical Leftist group that always seems to be in the middle of voter fraud?
Sorry, is that too much guilt by association?????

I guess ill reply seriously.

5,000 tax dollars is spent every second on Iraq. 5,000 dollars for bombs, bullets, fuel, tanks, planes, wages...and one fifth of it all is spent on private contractors, who are there turning profits on death, destruction, and reconstruction.

Conversely this is 5,000 tax dollars a second that will never be spent on the American people. 5,000 dollars that isn't going to be buying computers for schools, fixing roads, paying for public transit, fixing health care, funding research, helping us explore space...etc.
