OK, who makes a good 2.35 or smaller DH tire for loose conditions that still rolls pretty well. I got a new bike with not a lot of clearance.

Yeah, I don't really like Maxxis tires, the sidewalls are really flexy. I'll look into Tioga's tires.

Does anyone know about the Tioga Black Turtle tires? The place I usually race at is super soft and sandy, but there is a really long, flat finish-line sprint. The courses are also very pedally. Those tires look good because there are big side knobs and a smooth fast rolling center.

My old Tioga Factory DH's wer absolute crap--they had a single-ply sidewall that was continually folding, and the front tire didn't grip very well, but that was because of the tread pattern. I run 2.5" Minion front and 2.35" High Roller rear, and that combo rules in just about any condition. However, Maxxis tires do run small, so when I replace them, I'll probably bump up to 2.7" front, 2.35" rear.

Maxxis are dual-ply, though, they did start making singly ply tires. Highroller 2.35 sounds like the tire for you. Intense has a nice tire too @ 2.35 . the Edge. comes in 2 or 4 ply (4 if you are tough on the side walls ...or 200 lbs)

fontucky? the intense intruder sounds like a winner, the intense tires are pricey, but well worth it. oh, and you might want to invest in some beefy tire levers.

What about the Michelin 24.1 or something like that. It's a 2.2, but I have never ridden them, so I couldn't tell you how they perform.

If you're ever in Big Bear and run into me, I'd let you get a run or two on my DH bike with 2.3 Octopus on.. pretty underrated tire!! I can't imagine how much better are the 2.5 version!
