My 21km gravel ride was amazing. I started out too fast, did not have the right stuff to drink or eat, fell two times due and felt real shitty at 90km. Then I got some good support from my friend I rode with got into the grove again and felt great the rist of the ride. Great company and amazing nature we rode through.

    At the start

After I fell the first time trying to put a GU pack in my back pocket and got my foot stuck in the handlebar and cramping. It was pretty sad.

Here I really got my grove back and a smile on my face again. Just hiked the dunes behind me and was now riding a long stretch along the edge of the dunes on what was some of my favorite part of the ride.

At the finish line with my good riding buddy who really help me along the way as he has a lot more long distance experience than me. We did the 215km in 10 hours and 17 minutes from start to finish.

Going to do more of this type of riding in the future for sure. Even better shape would be nice but my endurance was good. I could have used a little more punch and the rough sections but that will come over the summer mountain biking.

Welcome to Monday! Not a great start to the week, fell on my walkway trying to get to my ice covered car. Then discovered that the snow plow left 2 feet of solid ice and slush at the end of the driveway. And I'm getting audited today. Woo wonderful.

Miserable morning is miserable. 35F, windy as fuck and horizontal rain makes Jack a dull boy.

Today is Boston Marathon day. I'm kind of happy I didn't make it into the field. It's a focking miserable day out there....35 degrees, windy, and heavy rain. Worst possible running weather. I'll be running it next year. I'm going to start checking the weather now....

Can't say I know what ridiculously large almost tailgate sized logo that you refer to. :D

Could be worse, at least I got a 2017 before the front grill turned into a punch you in the face logo too.

    Good Morning!!

I'm still here at my jorb. I'm having the lawyer draft up the "We apologize for the job title mixup - this guy is actually the Food & Beverage Director and not in signage sales - you have no need to worry about him anymore" letter. I hope that works...I like steady paychecks....but I have extreme doubt it will work. These folks don't seem to be involved with compassion for their fellow man who left his corporate job with them on great terms to work in a smaller market an hour away.

    Morning Monkeys.

Monday funday, yay! Rumor is my laptop will be here today, so I should have something to play with for today.

I was informed on Friday that I shouldn't reach out to folks outside of my team without telling my lead to do it. Only problem is my team is clueless about automaton. So rayrat than ask someone who knows, I get to rely on a game of telephone.

I loved my little Toyota and when it was just me and the moto, it was fine. But when I got the big quad and a small trailer, it got it's ass kicked getting to the trailhead.

I was able to fit the moto and both quads in the back of the 8' bed. But I don't know if I could deal with a double cab long bed, that's a big bitch.

    what an interesting weekend.

So my my wife and I both work for the government of Canada. The last government tried to institute a cost-saving measure and centralize the pay system. But it was poorly rolled out, and three years later, it's still fucked up. $1 billion in cost overruns, and people's pay are still fucked beyond belief. I read a story that said irregularities in pay (over-payments, under-payments, non-payments etc...) effect about 80% of civil servants. My wife has been dealing with problems in her pay for three years now. But this year, her tax receipt is all fucked up. It reports a take-home pay about 40% above what she actually took home. We prepared our taxes yesterday, and if we use that tax receipt, she would be paying $27,000 in taxes. The Canada Revenue Agency help-line says to file with the papers you have, and they will fix it. But fuck that. We're not running the risk of waiting three years to be reimbursed. By way of example, we're both in the same job category, and at the same rate of pay. As it stands I would be getting a $5,500 refund. So the pay centre's calculations are about $33,000 off. crazy.

anyways... went out for beers with buddies on Friday. Got surprise drunk again! skiing didn't pan out with the kids on Saturday, so I took them to the clipn'climb. My oldest loves it, my youngest just moped on the bench. but whatever, it got them out of the house. had beers with my neighbour at my place while my wife was out with friends on Saturday night. I got out for a pretty decent bike ride on Sunday, but my bike bounced out of the rack on the drive home.

Couple of questions for the peanut gallery:

with the bike bouncing off the car, it seems to have slid on the end of the bar, the saddle, and the derailleur. The bar is carbon. I'm thinking I should just replace it. the bar-end plug, and edge of the grip were ground down. there's no visible damage to the bar, but given that I wouldn't see damage to carbon, I think it best to replace it. thoughts?

My car is leaking oil in the driveway. (2013 Mazda CX5, manual). Is there anything I should check first, or should I just bring it to the garage?

Depends on how clean the underside is. Might be able to see where it is leaking, or at least get an idea and Google it.

Nice one, Claus. BTW, Gerald is mad at you for not stopping by the shop before you left. I told him you are Danish and there is no word for goodbye. Don't think he bought it though.
