Hi.

Anybody using intense tires here? And if, what are your thoughts about them
If not Intense tires is to recommend, is Gazza something to have on a pure dh racer?

Thankful for answers

What model?
For DH racing, most applications can be well served by either Minion DHF (in Slow Reezaay aka SRY) front, and Minion DHR in SRY rear, or the Minion DHF SRY front, Highroller SRY rear. Or for really fast open tracks where cornering traction isn't *that* big a priority (ie not heaps of off-camber), Highroller SRY for both.

What type kinda depends on track conditions.
For normal conditons use Maxxis Highrollers 60a compound for recreational riding and for racing use Maxxis highroller super tacky.
I like to run a 2.5 in front and a 2.35 in the back but thats personal I guess.
Dont go with big ass 3.0 gazzas or anything, they are pretty grippy and they are easy to ride but they have a lot of rolling resistance which really slows you down.
For mud use Maxxis wet screams or Michelin mud tyres.
Intense tyres are aijt but a little on the heavy side I think and Michelins are pretty nice too but Im just a big Maxxis fan. Go Maxxis Highrollers and Im sure you will like m.

Almost there...
I find the Intense tires to be too heavy. Having said that they were also the most flat resistant tires I ever tried. If you ride in a rocky area they might be worthwile. Traction was never a problem (I know I should state the model here but I forgot wich ones I used can you believe that).

Right now Im on the Minions. Lighter and almost as flat resistant (for me that is)

What do you think the Minion's advantadge is over the Highroller? I havent had a chance to "really" test these...
Check my response below.

Which do you think is better for the front???? Minion F or Highroller? Anyone?
For ultimate cornering grip, I reckon it's hard if not impossible to beat a Minion F (especially if it's cut). The downside is that they roll pretty slowly, whereas the Highrollers roll really fast (hence the name I spose) but aren't quite as sure-footed in the corners IME. The highrollers in SRY are still pretty damn good in the corners on an overall level (they seem to have to be leaned over a fair bit to get much bite though, whereas Minions have grip from centre to horizontal) but for traction... Minions are the hot turds IMO.

IMO a GREAT combination is Minion DHF front, Highroller rear, both in SRY. That's what I'll be running when I replace my current tyres (Minion DHF front and rear, excellent for off-camber stuff but doesn't seem to roll as fast as other combinations/tyres).

Any pics? How did you get the idea on this?

I am running Minion 2.7 60d front and 2.5 Minion 60d rear. They worked well where I rode all summer. I ran them all season at Northstar and am still running them. I will most likely switch to the 42d front and rear. Although the rest of the monkeys' advice on Highroller rear with Minion up front sounds like a good idea.

I thought I saw Minnaar running a Minion F in the rear and a High Roller up front. Maybe it is a blurry picture in Mountain Bike Action but I swear it.
