Well I am doing my part to get kicked out of corporate America. Do any of you monkeys know if you can use a TiVo or other DVR device just to record straight from cable without the monthly fees associated with TiVo services and the like? I know this is not bike related at all, and this is a bike site, but this is the lounge and on occasion I like to lounge at home. Any insight is much appreciated.

I think you need to subscribe to be able to set what you want to record. Just pay the monthly fee, its worth it. I've had a TIVO for almost 3 years now.

Just build a Linux DVR, much cheaper, and definately free!
