So since I wasn't at the trade show I didn't get a chance to peep the new Troy Lee Descender body armor. I've seen the picture in their MTB catalog (the link to which is available at http://www.troyleedesigns.com/products/index.html), and can see that it's not the same as the Speed Suit they have for Supermoto racing. If anybody got to really check it out that would be stellar if you could email me or just post on here for the general betterment of the RM community.

TLD gear is like drinking Perrier instead of water...you don't frikkin need it...

I do, however like the addition of knee crash pads, and the combat gaurds (a shin/knee combo with an upper strap...which is new for them).

excuse me while i go get some bubbly water

Bologna!

I started the year with some Azonic DH shorts and some TLD shorts. By the year's end the Azonic shorts are cut up and heavily worn. However the TLDs look brand new. TLD stuff is simply better and lasts longer.

Marzocchi also makes a pair of extra tough of rubberized logo/heavy duty nylon shorts as well. It looks like you'd be wearing a tarp, once you put those on :monkey:

I don't think I have enough Camaros or El Caminos on blocks in my front yard to justify getting a Troy Lee designed tat. Plus it would probably end up costing me about $100 per square inch just for the design work ;)

As for the TLD naysayers, I've had nothing but the best of luck with my stuff (in all honesty better than most of the Azonic stuff I used to have, but I haven't bought new AZ gear since '01 so they've probably made some improvements) and it's priced pretty competitively with most other brands, with the exception of the helmets.

Okay so maybe I'm a little more fashion-conscious on my bikes than I should be. Sue me.

The Speed jacket used for Super moto is perforated leather. The new Descender MTB jacket uses synthetic mesh instead. Looks good and priced well.

Anybody know if it has a hard plastic chest protector?

Speaking of TLD, I juts got a 2005 SE gear bag to take to Mammoth back in Sept. and that is one nice and HUGE gear bag. It has so many pockets for everything and I love the roll out foot pad for changing your shoes. Its even padded, so you don't hurt your tenderfeet.
