http://www.space.com/news/commission_report_040610.html

A commission chartered by U.S. President George W. Bush to advise him on implementing a broad new space exploration vision is recommending streamlining the NASA bureaucracy, relying more heavily on the private sector, and maintaining more oversight of the nation’s space program at the White House.

The President’s Commission on Implementation of U.S. Space Exploration Policy is scheduled to release its final report June 16. A copy of that report, “A Journey to Inspire, Innovate, and Discover”, was obtained by Space News .

The 60-page report outlines the organizational changes the commission says NASA needs to make if it is to achieve the space exploration goals laid out by Bush in January. Those goals include returning humans to the moon by 2020 in preparation for eventual human expeditions to Mars.................

please god let this come to fruition...... Discuss!

This is one area that Im really not with Bush on. That's not to say that I disagree with its hopeful goals, but IMO this is a move made to connect the man to the people and garner votes...or, to put it short, we have better places we could be spending money. For all the work its taken just to get money for the military to operate in its current capacity, I dont see how wasting money now on sci fi projects is acceptable...we should be focusing on having less americans die in other countries.

I personally think its the most important "next step" man faces as a whole. not some sci fi garbage. i think its analagous to exploring the new world... people just dont seem to think it will have benefits, and that its just for the sake of doing it.....
