We had our heat wave about 2 weeks ago.....

here are some tips...
- drink tons the 24 hours before.
- on climbs spin very very conservatively.
- pack an extra jersey or T shirt, gloves, and towel.
.....feels great to change into dry stuff halfway through......

Our 'heat wave' started two months ago and will end in another two months.

I finally decided to suck it up and it has been nice. I've been riding to work daily with temps being over 100 all last week. I am no slave to AC.

Wah. I rode a few weeks ago when it was hot here at 6PM. The thermometer red 105 when I left, and it was muggy.

I used to really enjoy nightrides when I lived in NVA and could hit up Wakefield/Accotink after work with buds. Up here in Fredneck, though, people'd look at me like I just bit the head off a squirrel whenever I asked if anyone was up for a night ride in the 'shed. Yeah, you're technically not supposed to ride there at night, but Johnnie Law is present only very, very rarely and saying you "got lost and were frightened" usually gets you out of a ticket. Riding rocky, fast trails at night with lights is like riding Space Mountain...just the Scooby Doo with lights on, but scary with the lights off.

***It hasn't been as bad this year since we don't seem to be getting the gulf flow like usual.
