Tornado in London?!

"The UK experiences an estimated 50 tornadoes on land each year, putting it top of the European league."
Most of these are obviously in Scotland where no-one notices them.
When I was at secondary school, we a had a proper one which is famous for not being forecasted at all. It affected the whole of the south east though. All the busses were cancelled due to the danger of being blown over and we had to walk across the causeway to the island where I lived. That was windy.

Are english tornados pale and weak?
I live in Oklahoma... we get about 50 tornadoes a month in the spring.
Formed by the vaccum caused when the house of lords meet.
