first results: inconclusive. coat is cleaner certainly but not perfect. this was on normal ozone levels—there's a boost as well.

This coat was fairly dirty. Not perfect after ozone only washing but certainly cleaner. 50% sold thus far.

violin playing eldest kid got in to Denver School of the Arts as an orchestra major

(It’s a public magnet school. You have to audition and be accepted to rank it for choice, and as it’s her first choice and she’s accepted she’ll therefore go there.)

5-6 mile bike ride on reasonable paths/lanes for nice weather so not terrible from that perspective, especially as I got her a commuter e-bike this past year for taekwondo (and this).

now wife is getting cold feet about DSA for academics and was all "maybe we can send her to Interlochen for high school"

$76.5k/yr. for high school.

yeah, nah.

there are plenty of good academic options in DPS if one puts music as a side thing not front and central. we've got a DSST highschool outpost a mile from us, for instance. wife is just being stupid imo.

backstory is that wife's younger brother (also an older one who kinda bounces around between careers, getting old for that) is the Associate Principal flautist in the Seattle Symphony, having gotten there via Interlochen, Curtis (iirc), Eastman, then a 10 year? stint in the Boise Symphony.

so he made it. whereas most everyone does not, just numerically.

There’s no fee to be in the group. Just have to audition and get in. Not sure if I’m burning all my goodwill by taking off these ski season concerts this year, but taking right off from Devo and changing into concert attire wasn’t fun in prior years.

So on these new Boa boots the Boa is only for the forward two buckles… the ones that I keep pinky-tight anyway (per advice of my bootfitter)? The top two that do the work are just like on my now deprecated all-buckle boots

What am I missing here?

Skiing was done. Little fresh but my Mindbender 116Cs are still fun. Second clip is of the run I did with my eldest this past Sunday. Much scratchier today! Didn’t post videos of making our way down Drunken Frenchman as that’s not glamorous at all without powder. Bonus shots of my sweet Baby...

Zipper pull: replaced via an Arc’teryx self service zipper pull replacement kit under warranty.

Snipped off the top stop on the pull’s side, slid off the old broken piece, slid on the new, crimped on two of the replacement stops.

(And then I put my jacket and ski pants in a pile to wash them as they look quite dirty up close!)

Family minus eldest kid lifted earlier this afternoon, and I spotted where necessary. Then I washed the car and lifted on my own tonight. I added the fractional plates to bump up 2.5 lb on bench. Every little bit counts eh

Marker Free 7 half-kid bindings on both skis now. Mariko will be on the left 152 cm Black Pearl 98s next season. Yuna will be on the 140 cm Rustler Pros the season after next. 120s for her next season probably—got those in my shed.

Mariko’s are set up as 2.75 DIN and Yuna’s at 2.25! Hopefully they can step into them ok since I’ve done all I can equipment wise

These Marker Free 7s on the Black Pearl 98s have worked out great for Mariko this season: she can step into them consistently. (None of the kids are on the 140 cm Rustler Pros this season: Yuna will be on them next season if she has a growth spurt.)

Re milestones above: I took Mariko-kun into the pediatrician today as she I picked her up mid day from school looking sick, lethargic/napping here and there, and with a fever. Anyway, she has Flu A. Drove a bunch to get Tamiflu for her in the proper kid-sized dose and she'll be home at least tomorrow with me, converting my day to WFH to tend to her.

Anyway, relevant to this post is that she was weighed at the pediatrician whilst there today… and now is 81.8 lb! (She's just a touch over 5' now. Still a long, skinny alien-baby.)

As per the above quoted post and screenshots, if one puts her as type 3 then being over 79 lb puts her at a DIN of 4… and this in turn means those Shift 10s are now kosher. I'll get a set from Powder7 mounted on the 159 cm Mindbender 106Cs that I have in the gear-shed, get her some properly-sized skins, and then we can walk up some hills after Devo ends mid March.

I'm thinking just in bounds stuff, going up Cranmer and the like, let her figure out the gear and all (and the big skis: her Black Pearl 98s are 152 cm and and she's something like 153-154 cm tall now).

I dug around in ye olde gear-shed as promised. Found the 24.5 Nordica HFs that we have saved for Mariko when she grows some more—wife might get those fitted formally as she's finally finding her Apex XP-L boots to be limiting her skiing as she progresses slowly but steadily.

Also pulled out the 22.5 and 23.5 K2 Mindbender Jr AT boots that I'd gotten via Roller Auction from the Bluebird Backcountry bankruptcy sale. Mariko was a good sport and test fit both, shell only and with liner. After a bit of waffling she preferred the 22.5 once everything was laced up.

So I'll get the Mindbender 106Cs mounted up (at Powder7 as they have a sale through Wednesday, or at Christy Sports if they'll pricematch to the sale price since I'll be there for more bootfitting time anyway) with a minimum BSL that'll fit the 22.5 K2 boots. Shift 10s have 30 mm of heel adjustment so they'll work for 23.5 and 24.5 without a remount as she gets bigger, and by that time she may well be on skis longer than 159 cm anyway.

I like being a ski parent and having a shed full of gear. I'm like @Nick, only with gear for the whole family and "only" 2 sets of boots and 2 sets of skis for me personally.
