So good to get out of the boots and back into one layer of socks

boots much roomier now. Can still feel edges of toe area but not painful now.

Off to Powder7 next

edit: did what I said I'd do. Shift 10s at DIN 4 on the 159 cm Mindbender 106Cs for my eldest kid.

Park Tool hooked me up with a free-via-goodwill replacement spoke wrench after I emailed them to let them know my decades-old wrench had cracked recently during use. A good company, it is.

sights from the road this morning

cool setup. those are twin steers, each looking to be 20k. the lift axle is also robust, maybe a 15k there?

that's a Cat D8T. 88,000 lb just for it!

taxes done and filed. got upsold for $35 for audit protection. I'm always a nominally high risk but this year is exceptional even given this as I'm claiming a section 179 deduction for the interior renovation, among other things

first results: inconclusive. coat is cleaner certainly but not perfect. this was on normal ozone levels—there's a boost as well.

(And then I put my jacket and ski pants in a pile to wash them as they look quite dirty up close!)

View attachment 207577
Updated results: coat washed with only non-boost ozone. Same area as in the above:

I didn’t know you got a custom plate, @Nick

Random joy: this Audi SQ5 driver was appropriately using his rear fog lights in this weather

Random gripe: he was driving like a stereotypical Audi driver, plus that illegal tint

also from today’s drive, unusual icing. Gonna be a lot of car accidents tonight.

gonna put some studs in the hard plastic tires of my electric kid-and-ski-gear-shuttling wagon. it actually will help snow traction quite a bit.

:)

Tried to fix my boot. Was not successful. Thread pulled through the bottom rubber part with any tension, plus getting the needle through without proper needle drivers as we use in surgery was a pain in the ass

Popped a redundant set of Hotronic insoles in since why not

New phone mount for my commuter. Shall video to catch incidents a la a dashcam. This is a Peak Design setup with a nominally motorcycle handlebar mount as that had more reach and my bar is cluttered.

Final batch

half-assedly reinstalled one removed (for shell heat-work) set of Bootcaps and installed the other ones for the first time on my AT boots. Their native adhesive is much better than my foam double sided tape on the alpine boots’ set.

stuffed animal fren that came up with us

two views from the far side of the pass. Snau

Skied

Baby Aya loves the mascot doggo

fixed off center Trex board connectors while kids warmed up pizzas afterward

going to drive Denver-wards after dinner tonight to mix things up. My gear is coming back (bringing the wide planks) because I’m skiing. At least Wednesday. Maybe Tuesday as well? Let’s see how this storm shakes out

I know nothing of how Icelantic skis ski in general, let alone how this model does

But what I do know is that this top sheet is awesome

morning tableau

Baby Aya worked on subtraction. After the cats and Aya left Yuna worked on algebra. She learned how to solve for two variables when given two equations

Icelantic are "old man skis" according to my kids and their friends. NTTAWWT.
what does that even mean

not good for center mounting and wearing super baggy pants to hit up the rails at the terrain park?!

No idea. But they assured me that Elan Ripsticks are *also* old man skis. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
what do they think about Mindbenders? K2 was reaching out to The Youth with their god-awful "colorways" the past few years before they returned to sanity for this year. which is why I finally bought those 116Cs, in no small part :D

there's been a slow, impossible to localize leak of water under the kitchen sink for a few weeks

well, today it became easier to localize. perhaps there are two sources... but at least one of them is a pinhole in the redundant hose for the extendable faucet head, now spraying water actively when said faucet is in use

going to use some of my pre-shift free time this week waiting on a plumber, it appears. I'll grab a faucet at Costco while out tomorrow if one looks good

buy a home, they said

(that said, I'm very glad I bought/actually built in 2015, and refinanced at the historic 2021 lows. 'tis not without headaches though, this one thankfully minor.)

((I'm not going to try to replace it on my own since working behind the sink is a pain in the ass.))

Pretty sure this should be in the "Shit Woo Likes" thread...
