Nonsense. Don't sell yourself short. Pedal harder. :p

there's just no world where I maintain 474W power over 20 minutes. in street clothes. on an upright-ish, comfortable bike with fenders, rack, and panniers.

(admittedly, this includes what I put into the equation, which probably was 100W. but still isn't happening.)

in conclusion, electricity is cool

I miss my 45mins each way by bike - if I blank out the cars/peds and garbage juice puddles I had to avoid. Used to take me the same time as the subway would have.

edit: my commuter, purchased June 2008.

update for y'all, since I know you're waiting with bated breath:

not moving forward with this outfit for now. awaiting quotes from contractor buddy of one of my online frens (who in turn is a developer here in Denver, and is the brother of one of my former residents here at work. whew), and from the landscape firm run by the guy whose plowing company handles the mountain house driveway.

both quotes should be in by next week, in theory.
contractor guy swung by house yesterday or today. and he made the good point that the linesets for the 5 head heat pump would all need to be disconnected and refilled as part of replacing the ledger board that runs the width of the house behind them.

so I'm inquiring with the engineering firm whether a two part ledger board setup avoiding this area or a different reinforcement plan might be suitable, and also asking my HVAC company how much said disconnect and refilling would actually run. (they'll be out there in a few weeks anyway for the 2 ton single head extra heat pump setup for the master suite.)

shows contractor guy is actually serious/thinking through this, though!

EV9, GV60, GV70 Electrified with $7,500 retail bonus cash for purchases in case y'all are in the market for such things. EV9 is too small as a minivan replacement as I concluded above.

Awkwardly named "G580 with EQ technology" shown off. $180k or so. I'd honestly be interested in one of these in about 5 years after it's depreciated to <$50k.

edit: the unadorned mustard color one is awesome. 8:00 or so into video

I'm thinking the weather looks promising for some carving laps on Friday morning at MJ, swinging up to the house to turn on the PV system now that I have permission to operate... and then a quick trip up Sunday morning to catch some powder and head back down here for eldest kid concert fun-time.

edit: PV array connected and turned on. Producing power since about noon :)

My motobecane set up like this had over 10k miles on it when the computer shit the bed, and that was 3 years ago. Granted, I quit riding to work because of COS infrastructure and population explosion, but i still ride it regularly. Best 300 bucks I've ever spent.

headed to Costco on Saturday for some Diet Coke, croissants, wife's eyeglasses if they're done, maybe two inflatable stand up paddleboards for mountain house use

and will totally get this for the front yard here if it's available in a size that'll fit in the car. I don't think this big boi one would and it's not on Costco.com. would put it out front and not tell wife. how long until she'd notice?!

don't know on price for the easter island heads

thinking of bidding on one of those Rad Power bikes and maybe that Trek Soho if they stay going for super cheap. I'm on call May 4 but could pop out for 45 min up to Roller Auction with a rack on a car to pick up two bikes for sure.

no charger is no problem as I have that for the RadWagon. maybe the same key works for all? probably could figure that out between the Rad store in town and the internet.

edit: keys have a code. unless I get lucky with the same code $20 and a bit of a wait for a new key.

The road bike with the Ulock still attached amuses me greatly.

I may have to bid on a couple of those. I will gladly pay you in the fried Japanese pastries of your choice to pick them up.

Careful. Cops may have stolen it.

Five years ago a friend had his bike stolen.

Last month he got a call from a random dude that his bike was for sale at an industrial auction. He called the police department where he reported the theft. They told him to call the auction house. Auction house claims they will not sell the bike but they can't do anymore for confidentiality. He calls four different police departments getting the run around before he finds out that the Lynnwood police department arrested a meth head with it. They claimed the couldn't find the serial number (right where it always is) to identify he was the owner despite somehow knowing it was stolen to arrest the meth head and after 5 years sent it to auction.

Cops basically also stole the bike.

Skied. Sticky west coast style powder condensing down into slush in the warmth. Got really, really tacky around 11:30 and I bailed. Perhaps I need to up my warm snow wax game or perhaps that's just how April is.

I'm thinking Sunday early in the Land Cruiser (in case the pass gets all slided out and I have to drive around--wouldn't be good in the Busy Forks both for range and for its sad sack 100 kW max fast charging).

Copper is getting the goods thus far. 6” this morning. WP is about 2” since yesterday afternoon. Shall monitor both today.

if Copper I’ll take the Busy Forks.

much grossness abounds: had to drive to Ken Caryl and back for solo and ensemble contest day for the eldest.

134 mi estimated for 69% SOC == 194 mi on 100%. so 15% loss from nominal EPA range in high rolling resistance slush/rain/snow with heat + defrost + AC on (+ heated seats and wheel, both negligible draws).

hmm maybe not skiing tomorrow after all

8" on Copper snow stake but that was basically all in the morning. will have been skied out by 10 AM.

4" at Winter Park overnight, and nada on the stake since it was cleared just over an hour ago

my bar to haul myself up tomorrow morning will be 8" overnight at either place. got to have some standards, ya know

Via Autoblog, actually useful data:

ev9 cargo.PNG

And it really cements that the EV9 isn't big enough to be a minivan replacement. With one 3rd row seat folded so as to fit the five of us (in a captain's chair model) we could fit 5 bags and as many backpacks, sure. But where would the wagon go?

(Our Wonderfold W1 is the perfect backpack + instrument +/- kid-carting tool for navigating airports with kids + kidstuffs!)

the weekly drug I've been using to aid me in defattening (tirzepatide, aka Mounjaro) hasn't been available for 6 weeks or so, and I've been taking more days off from spinning on the bike than usual with my schedule. and I've been eating more in the past few weeks likely directly related to stress about what might be found on scope day.

anyway, between all of that, I finally stepped on the scale this morning and am up about 15 lb from my baseline from the last year or so. perhaps some will melt off with this day of clears and then bowel prep. I'll get back on the wagon in the other senses as soon as I can, too--sure would be nice to have that unconscious aid via tirzepatide once more.

Were you measuring your weight from when you started lifting bro?

How much weight have you lost overall, since starting that journey?

I might have put on maybe 5 lb of muscle. but not this much, that's just not possible. and this is also over the last month or so.

down 30 or so lb at my usual pre-this-month baseline as compared to how I was before. so maybe 12-15% expressed that way, which is nothing to sneeze at. also cured my no longer as tasty now, previously fatty liver as assessed by MRI. :)

Quit eating so much. Problem solved! :homer:
I mean, I could measure out everything and be super anal about intake. and that would work, mathematically. the magic of the once weekly injection is that it just subtly tickles my brain to balance things out more like how someone skinny in their natural state, like you, does it. a brain-normalizer.
