Did some work with it. And it works. If drug backwards against the motion of the rotors to make it dig in more. Also works a bit better than in the one handed video with pressure. Much preferable to hand tilling. Destroy it all!

meanwhile the adjuster will coordinate with the exhaust shop for the estimate tomorrow or Wednesday. slow process that I had to hasten along by calling and hassling the claims agent. Thursday will thus be just fine indeed with the timeline. might even drop off the skid plate Monday afternoon with the rented Tesla depending on the timeline, or on Friday via e-cargo bike since I'm a goof.

MPEI electrical-related upgrade project financing is as below, with a $100 one time administration fee. for the small insulation project I'm doing for the mountain house attic this doesn't make sense due to that fee being proportionally large. but for the upcoming master suite heat pump setup + potential PV on roof (!) it would make sense.
$5,901.61 estimate. Progressive is paying out $4,901.61 to me via direct deposit and I'll pay the shop the full amount via credit card when settling up. parts are being ordered now so the timeline still is fine with dropping off the skid plate on Friday and getting that done as part of this.

for context, in Denver in May 2020 I paid $24,900.16 for 11.34 kW (on top of my existing 2.6 kW SolarCity array), $2.20/installed W. so minimal inflation but nothing extra off the top.
A few more hours of my sweaty labor + about 700 Wh of electrical work later this part of the nuke it all project is done

the astute watcher would note from the above that the hot tub pad remains empty despite today having been the delivery date. the dealer removed the packaging prior to loading it up on a truck and found some damage to the overlip of the shell. the R series isn't made any more now (!) and he has to sort out whether liability for this is on the original shipper or his firm.
so I'll have a resolution but won't have a hot tub today or for a few weeks yet, it appears.

Yeah, I read that I should ideally wait until overnight temps are more like 60. So I may well be reseeding later. But I wanted to try now at least and get some cover! I have like 50 more lb of seed left to spread. Probably should get a better seed spreader: my electric handheld one is not the most even in its distribution, not to mention seeding my own sock, etc.It's too early to seed. Also did some math(s) and figured out square footage of remaining theoretically grass area after the pad, and the answer is about 318 sq ft
edit: screwed up the math. did triangle formula even for the non triangle areas. should be 462 + 84 + 54 - 9 == 591 ft^2. pad area is 111 sq ft, so would have been 702 sq ft total before the pad encroached on it.

reseeding project update
raked today as getting a bit of cover for new seeds is recommended. also found out during this that the water distribution (after watering this morning on an every day x 14 days schedule for the new seed) is extremely uneven. dependent/lower portions positively waterlogged and upper ones kinda dry.
turned out that some of my sprinkler heads were almost 90 degrees off from their proper 180 degree fan pattern orientation with respect to the yard. fixed that and changed timing.
also one of them had no water at all coming out of it although it popped up fine. instead of troubleshooting more than running my hand over it I ordered up a replacement for $9 on Amazon. I've never replaced a sprinkler head but it seems simple enough: dig around it for access, unscrew, Teflon tape, screw in new one, adjust pattern, put dirt back in.

time for the same trivial math for charging the PacHy:
it's rated at 410 Wh/mi in electric, 30 mpg on gasoline.
85 octane was $3.979/gal when I drove by Quik Trip today. electricity in summer months under time of use is 11 cents/kWh off peak, 19 cents/kWh mid peak, 27 cents/kWh peak.
so the question I'm going to answer is what equivalent gas price do each of those electricity rates correspond to.
11 cents/kWh * 41 kWh to drive 100 miles / 90% charger efficiency == $5.01, which would break even at $1.50/gal gas.
mid peak 19 cents ==> $8.66, breakeven at $2.60/gal gas.
peak 27 cents ==> $12.30, breakeven at $3.69/gal gas.
therefore I should not worry about when the PacHy gets charged, as it's cheaper at any time than actual gas, and subjectively is better to drive in electric mode anyway beside the environmental benefit (recall that we overproduce from our PV system so our electricity is carbon free).
