Ok, despite all the scandals I can't help but get excited for this race.

I am going to the team presentation tonight and plan to go check out the prologue on Sunday as well. I'm gonna try to check out another stage but probably won't be able to make it happen.

Predictions?

Maybe safe choices but I'm going with Cancellara for the prologue and I have to give Levi the nod again for the overall.

Looks like Rock Racing may be pulling out. The thing that kills me about the Puerto investigation is the lack of a resolution, its open, its closed, its open again.....cycling has yet to move on from the investigation, and its been two years. I wish they would either dole out the suspensions or close the damn case for good, the uncertainty is not good for cycling

how convienent that Puerto was re-opened and that the ToC has that little part in their agreement that riders can't be part of an open doping investigation! not that i want to get all X Files about this, but it is a bit strange that Puerto is re-opened and the three guys from Rock racing just happened to be part of it. you could say someone has it in for them and anyone else named in that MCF (mongolian cluster f**k) it's too bad for those riders, they served their suspensions, did their time and they still get screwed out of racing. funny how Amgen tells these guys they can't race when they were part of a doping scandel too if i remember right. nice case of the pot calling the kettle black. could be AEG just hates Ball and this is a way to twist his nipples a bit for fun.

I DVR'd it, then realized that yes, I had canceled the "sports package" a while back, as I only got it for the Tour last July. Dumbass.
Time to call the cable company and open my wallet again I suppose. Bummer though, it was on for 2 hours today, and looked like a great stage.

Fabian living up to the rainbow jersey, good for him!

Seems like sour grapes now. Even if every rider who they kicked out was doping according to Puerto, their suspensions would be over now.

You can take your tin foil hat off now. Only Hamilton served a suspension, not Botero or Sevilla...although when this thing originally broke Botero went back to racing in Columbia and avoided the Euro scene (admission of guilt in my eyes) and Sevilla has had trouble securing a contract. I don't think there is any conspiracy, but I don't understand why riders are still being left out of races....they are saying that the investigation will only focus on the Dr. now, not the athletes.

Versus is on a dedicated sports package? It's on basic cable here.

While it was two hours, race coverage was only an hour. First hour was overview and recaps.

yeah man, they hold FIVE spots in the TOP 12... considering there are 17 teams with about eight riders each, that's dominance! :)

STAGE ONE
Just watching it, but pretty darn cool that they held a Woman's Crit at the finish line. Gives spectators a lot for their money!

And the men do three laps of the crit as well at the end. They've really designed it for maximum spectator fun! :)

But I'm confused, does anyone know how the Team Standings are calculated? Slipstream's in THIRD place?!

i thought it was total time of all riders and whatever time bonus's the riders get. maybe even points or time off for certain amount of riders finishing within a certain time limit or placing

I think the TdF is the first three riders of a team to cross on any given day. It doesn't have to be the same rider.

I remember Lance one time letting a team mate get a stage win while he hung back to pull a teammate across to keep 1st place for Team competition.

Was it Cavendish that broke off the front at the end? What happened, just ran out of gas? He had such a huge lead towards the finish.

Very cool that the 'old' man Cipollini finished strong.

And now for your homer posting...

Great finish! Pretty sure Cavendish thought he was leading out someone else. I have to admit I was really hoping Cipo would get the win - there is something I like about how he is so over-the-top. But Boonen would not be denied.

Today should see some interesting changes in the leader board.

i haven't been following too closely but i noticed on another site that someone was selling tee shirts that said let Levi ride. anyone know what this is about?
To try and change the mind of ASO and let Astana into the Tour, so he and Contador (and Kloden I guess) can defend their titles/podium places.

I read that Cavendish was supposed to be leading out Ciolek, but Ciolek either didn't follow or held back and Cavendish kept going because his earpiece fell out- he couldn't hear the director yelling at him. By the time he turned around, he saw that he was alone and decided to give it a go for the win.

And, yeah, pretty cool that Cipo seems to be in shape. I figured he'd get killed.

Jeez, I know he would kick my butt and all but Levi: Come on Dude! Attack muthafugga, attack!! He had the contenders on the ropes early on that last climb and might have been able to put the race away. I know it's his style but damn, I'd like to see him be more aggressive and put it on the line more often. Now he is going to need a huge time trial AND a great performance on the last day.

Overall though it's a good race with no clear winner right now, so that's cool. Props to slipstream for having a bunch of guys up there. It would be awesome if Zabriskie wins.

Sorry I'm late to the party. I've been watching the tour every night and while it's not the greatest or longest coverage, hey, it's coverage. My thoughts on yesterday...

FRIGGIN ATTACK LEVI!

I felt REALLY bad for Farrar. If I was going to abandon a road race I think I'd tell my team guy to pick me up after the race in the bushes and I'd hide. Riding in the loser mobile would suck ass.

The dude running with the giant rack of antlers was awesome.

As for Levi, I got the feeling that he didn't have any extra in the tank to attack. Sounds like he made a deal Gesink: we work together to get to the line and you can have the stage win.

Antler guy rules. He must be in good shape to run along with those guys as long as he did.

It seems weird watching those stages and not hearing the roar from the crowds like in the euro races.
