Some guy on pinkbike an I are trading frames... my Rocky Mountain Slayer SS for his Banshee Wildcard. We are also trading a few other things like cranks and derailleurs... etc. I live in Utah, and he lives in Florida, so how do we trade? Do we both just ship our frames at the same time and hope for the best? This might sound like I'm paranoid, but how do I know he's not sending out a DVD or something stupid, and sends me the shipping code for that, so I think it's the frame? I would suggest an idea where I paypal him $500 or so for his frame, and when I get his frame I ship mine out and he paypals me back, but I have no money, and don't know if that would even do any good.

So how do you guys suggest a shipping trade go down?

He seems like a legit guy, but I don't want to take any chances. I'm a broke ass college student, and cant really afford to be scammed. If i lose my bike, that's it. I'm not riding this season.

Last thing, His bike has been listed for months.. granted his full build is $1900 (which is a bit more than most Wildcards on PB right now) so is it just not selling because the price or lack of demand for wildcards? Seems just a touch shady, but I'm not super worried about it. Pinkbike is usually really good about flagging spammers. I asked him to send me some new pictures of the frame as he is cleaning it and boxing it up to be shipped. We'll see what happens.

Real last note: If the guy I'm trading with is on here, I'm not trying to imply anything about you, or trying to say I think you're scamming me, I just want to make sure everything goes smooth, plus I am a bit paranoid. I've had pinkbike deals go bad before, so I'm very cautious about this now.

Go about it as two separate sales. He Paypals you $1000 for your frame, you Paypal him $1000 for his. If you both are satisfied, refund the payments to avoid the fees (but that might be tricky...what if he doesn't refund it after you have...so maybe just pay the fees). If it doesn't work out and you get his old porno collection, open a dispute to get your $1000 back.

only snag is that I'm a broke ass college student, and don't even have $250 to paypal anywhere.... That's why I'm trading in the first place.

You could try calling bike shops in his area and see if they will broker the deal for a few bucks. You send your frame to them, he goes to the shop and they inspect and do the trade if all looks well.
