I'm seriously considering buying a Specialized 05 Big Hit FSR (seems to be a lot of bike for the buck). I'm not much of a climber (my asthma gets pretty pissed when climbing sometimes) but I do enjoy the flat and downhill singletrack. Recently I have discovered the joy of shuttling.

I was wondering if anyone out there has this bike (or something similar) and uses it for not only "freeriding & DH'ing" but also for and "all mountain" type riding. Can it go up short, steep uphills so that I have the "goods" for the downhill fun?

Comments are truly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'll let you know in a couple weeks. I'm in the middle of buying an '04 Comp to replace my Haro X3. Its gonna be a bit heavier, but BigHits are just so much fun to ride. I think the slightly challenges on uphills will be well worth the trip down. :thumb:

I rode mine on rides with 1700 foot vertical climbs here in CO - It wasn't ideal, obviously, but was totally doable and not all that uncomfortable - you just have to learn to be a bit more patient.

Just curious, but what did you change on your brakes?
