ok, when i put my bike on the trainer, i kinda forgot i was on the trainer and i braked, so now theres basically a bald spot on the tire, but around the rest of the tire, there seems to be a flat spot that wasn't there before, was it the tire, trainer, or tension i had the resistance unit on, or how tight i had the resistance unit on?
thanks,
pat

How can you forget you're on a trainer?
Anyways you never put the brake on while on a trainer it always ruins your tires. Also if you were using MTB tires they probly just wore out use slicks when using your trainer.

If it is new, take it back and ask for a rim trainer. You will definately wear out tires on a wheel trainer. Or, you can get a new rear wheel and put a road tire on it, thet should stop it from slipping...

That is weird that it is spinning then. If you have the right tire pressure, and the tension is set, you shouldn't be running into the problem, except for the braking...

I've got a cycleops fluid2 & it chews tires.

I have a spare rear wheel build up for my roadbike to keep on the trainer so I dont ruin my good tires on it.

Even with moderate tension it does wear a big flat band on the tire after enough distance, simply from the heat that is generated. That said I've got about 1500km on this current tire and it's looking 'OK' but theres not way I'd ride it on the road cos it would pop in a 2nd on a real road.
