I still can't figure that out, I mean when she was a woman, she could be with men (and it be "normal"), so why change to a man so you can be with men.

Anyway, I thought it would be an interesting anecdote to add to the thread.

Basic understanding of the process that a individual has to take to become or convert to a transgendered individual. Your statement above would be impossible to do in most countries were that type of conversion would be available. They wouldn't make it through a evaluation based on "wanting to be a Gay Man". The surgical conversion process is very expensive, lengthy, and requires a extensive psychological profiling to be done before they are even considered for it.

Once they have the surgery they are still people. I do not consider anyone who hasn't had the surgery to be transgendered. I suppose someone with more knowledge of the what is transgendered is could give us a better definition of what that actually means......jdcamb

Then she is not transgendered. As of a year ago (the last contact my wife had with him/her) she had not had the surgery yet for exactly the reason you state. She has however taken all the medication to make her breasts go down and deepen her voice. She dressed like a man and wants to be identified as a man, even though she doesnt have the plumbing.

Anyway, I feel bad for her, that is some serious baggage she has.

i would hold something like a "don't ask, don't tell, don't show & tell" standpoint. When it becomes an unnatural distraction, that's when i take issue.
