Transition Clunker, AKA best bar bike ever!

Yup, I am in love with another bike from Transition. End all, be all, hands down best bar bike ever. This means there will be 3 in my garage. Gonna order this tomorrow!

You know, that is EXACTLY what my wife said when I showed her this bike, when I got all psyched up about these things. I said noooo nooo no, this is like the roots of mountain biking, lady!

back in the 90s Merlin produced the "Newsboy" then in '05 the "Roots" which paid homage to the clunker...

I'm sure there are other bikes like this...

. . . so what is the deal with coaster brakes? i've not ridden one in decades, and i want to know how much you need to back-pedal before they engage, and is there any modulation, or does it go right into lock-up?

That one is a Woodman brake adapter. I did have to modify it with a band saw to sit flush on the rear dropout.
