This warranty is void in its entirety by any modification of the frame, fork, or components. This warranty is expressly limited to the repair or replacement of a defective item and is the sole remedy of the warranty. This warranty extends from the date of purchase, applies only to the original owner, and is not transferable. Trek Bicycle Corporation is not responsible for incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above exclusion may not apply to you. Claims under this warranty must be made through an authorized Trek dealer. Proof of purchase is required. The subject item must be registered with Trek Bicycle Corporation, either through on-line registration or by the receipt of a warranty registration card by Trek Bicycle Corporation, before a warranty claim may be processed. This warranty does not affect the statutory rights of the consumer.
Carbon Crash Replacement Policy:

Assessing any damage done to a carbon fiber part requires more experience than is needed to inspect metal parts. If you crash or impact your bike and the force of the impact is absorbed by a carbon part, we strongly encourage you to replace the part, even if there are no indications of damage. If such a crash or impact occurs, Trek offers a crash replacement program for carbon parts, substantially reducing any replacement cost. To take advantage of this program, contact us using the information listed above and ask for the Warranty department.

Just called and was told it's 20% off of dealer cost. They can then pass that along to you.

Any word on insurance on the deal yet???

All other carbon components are covered under the same guidelines, but have different values, dependent on the part.

thank you! - I was hoping it was more.

I received the property settlement - it was 100%. How can they argue depreciation on 3 hours :)

Yeah thanks SM - I read that. I was looking for more specifics.

Roadie season is almost over, you have a perfectly good build kit and a fat check. You might want to consider a custom steel frame built for you and only you. :)

I was surprised when I read the crash thread and found out you went with a Trek, not that they aren't great bikes - its just that kind of cash and a little patience will build you a bike that will last a lifetime.

Are you planning on an exact replacement frame to lower your overall cost to own the same bike?

I say the crash was a sign... someone (with power) wants you on the real deal custom steel. :)

we chose trek based on fit. I have long femurs but a short reach and for stock bikes, that was the closest fit in Carbon. James I LOVE the Felt but the fit wasn't right.

FYI the Insurance company took the bike - all of it so I have no groupo either.

I'm 100% kidding, I know you bought on fit, as well you should! Well, color first right? Then fit. That's my style anyway.

So are you going back into the Trekland again? Or custom ti? Or what?

You know I love ya and your brand loyalty ;) !

I'm not making any rush decisions....let's just put it that way. I'm weighing my options (and seeing how much I get for "damages" lol)

My insurance guy said they would but everyone on teh monkey said they wouldn't - and I believed them!

I need to know about this "high-end" bike salvage business. :monkey:

Accidents suck.
The woman was CLUELESS as to bikes - but very receptive and listened to what we had to say. She said she was going to rely on my lbs as the "expert" so I can't fault her for the way anything was handled. She did even ask if there was a salvage value and we told her we had never heard of one.

But they wanted it anyway and really I thought it was fair. They paid me for the whole bike so I have nothing to complain about :thumb:

Apparently, Trek called my shop to tell them that the chain that they ordered as part of the SRAM groupo was probably one affected by that SRAM powerlink recall.

Spencer told them "I don't think we have to worry about that anymore" and told them the whole crazy story. SO Trek does know about me! (As does Titus of course lol) That and $5 will get me a tall latte at Starbucks :D
