I'm thinking of buying this 2009 trek session 88, and everything looks good except for this dent. Dents are a common problem for this frame, but is this something to worry about? Should I still buy it? I've heard a lot of good things about this bike besides the denting issue.

I'd ride it. Close enough to the BB and only a few paint cracks.

that little dent is not a problem imho. DO NOT carry a trek hooked on a truck tailgate on rough roads. i had a huge dent in my treks downtube from that. they are like tin cans.
