I'm freaking out right now. This is soo good.

(and i just made it up!)

1 tri tip sirloin roast, about 5 lbs
1/2 tsp salt
MUCH fresh ground coarse black pepper
6 gloves of chopped garlic
1 small chopped purple onion
1 tsp herbs de provence
1 tbs olive oil
1 tbs sesame oil
pinch of lavender flower (maybe even 1/2 pinch - this stuff goes a long way)

Throw the roast in a pan fat side up and throw all the other stuff on it. Cook at 450 for 15 minutes, then cover and cook at 350 for 20 minutes. Uncover, baste and cook an additional 20 minutes for medium, less or more for rare or well.

Serve with a vegetable and cold beer.

In a van.... down by the river
An official thanks to H8R for the tri tip recipe. It kicks ass! Made the roast (minus the lavendar, sadly) and had a paella-like rice dish with it (garlic, onions, carrots, celery, porcini mushrooms, and beef stock) along with green beans and an '01 Casa Lapostolle Cabarnet. :thumb:

Oh - and strawberry shortcake. With *freshly* whipped whipped cream.
