But.. it's not like that at all. I have many friends who run drilled rims and ride every day, and ride hard. Mind you most of them are lightweights but the fact is, trials is generally not super hard on rims, we just need all the width we can get to get rid of tire foldage. Thus, drilling the rims doesn't compromise the strength to a degree that it affects most riders. Obviously, you need to drill the right size holes and properly - and the guys I know who drill rims are certainly not hacks in any sense of the word.

i guess if you know what you're doing, then it's a little more acceptable. It's way more common of a practice than i had thought. the only problem i could see is if you knicked the chamber part of the rim.

and didn't peaty run hubs with oil in them for less resistance?

Yeah, over in europe you're pretty much lame if you don't drill your rims. But they put a lot more focus on smoothness than here typically.

Naturally, there are certain size holes that are and are not used.. but generally, there aren't any problems related to them

what size holes do you drill for an alex/BMF?
