I didn't know what other forum to post this thread in... so here we go. :o: Im going to Virgin Utah, on Sunday. (the 26th) My grandparents live about an hour from Virgin, in Nevada. I guess I might try to go ride with ome local riders and stuff. heard Bender is a Virgin local, so I might try to find him, and ride with him. :) I'll be spending about 4 or 5 days there, and I've never been there for riding before, which brings me to the point of this thread. Is there anything I should know before I head out there  Such as other places to ride/Trails/bike shops etc. It's about a 12 hour drive to my grandparents house from here, so Im glad my ipod came in time!:thumb:

Thanks,

i was there this summer and didn't see any bike shops. however, if you drive another 15miles you come to Springdale, or something like that. it's just outside of Zion NP. there are a few shops there. i recommend Zion Bicycles. the owner is quite cool, and he has a descent stock of stuff.

(my experience.....might vary for you) when you get into town (i assume you'll be coming from the west, and coming through Hurricane), you'll see a general store type thing on the left. it looks more like a tourist stop. it was the only real store i saw while i was driving around in Virgin. not exactly a big town....anywho, stop there. a guy was working who was kinda tall, with short brown hair. i told him i was there to ride, and he immediately started talking about Bender. he made a few calls for me trying to hook me up with him. no luck, though. he then gave me directions to the Red Bull runs. if i remember correctly, continue going down hwy 9 a short way, and turn left onto ________ Mtn Road. i think it was Kolob Mtn Rd. you'll pass the city dump, and the bmx track. then, on your left, you'll start seeing the mesas that are home to Red Bull.

from what i could tell, you can park pretty much anywhere around there. i was there in the dead of summer, and didn't see anyone the entire time i was attempting to ride that stuff.

--edit--

oh yeah, while in a bike shop, see if someone can hook you up with a map of the trails in the area. as i was leaving my second day, i saw a house on the outside of town (East side of town) where a truck was parked with a couple downhill bikes. whoever it was waved to me as i drove by, so i assume they're friendly folks. if you get desperate you could always drive around looking for someone with a bike. it's hard to get lost in that town.

Ok bud I ride in Virgin all the time. It is my local stomping grounds. Freddy the bike shop owner is on vacation. All my friends who are locals would probably ride with you if you just ask. Go to any restaurant in Springdale and ask if anyone there rides. Everyone here knows everyone. You will find someone to ride with if not PM me. There is nothing to do in Virgin and no one rides in Virgin. Drive another 12 miles east to Springdale. That is where the people are. Wear lots of armor if you ride the monkey. Do Grafton first as a warmup for da monkey. There is a cool trail right before you ghet to the monkey that will get you warmed up. Just go to Springdale and askaround the restaurants.

i thought the bmx track was badass. if your bike is set up for it, i'd check it out. if not, might as well check it out anyway. the 2 days i was in Virgin, i didn't see 1 person out there.
